We recently stayed here for a convention...and were pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was! Small rooms with double beds..but clean... Very nice breakfast! Small pool...but the kids loved it! This hotel was exactly what we needed. Reasonable rates! Wonderful location to civic center! Very glad we made this choice! Would definitely recommend to families traveling on a budget!

This place was perfect. Yes, it's a Holiday Inn and not Plaza, but the room was immaculate, the location is great, staff is friendly, and reasonably priced. We stayed here on two separate occasions. Would recommend for anyone travelling to or near Roanoke. Not one problem, not one complaint.

For a "lower end" hotel, Holiday Inn Express has been pleasantly comfortable. The rooms and public space are very clean...the sheets and amenities upgraded from a typical similar type hotel. This was my second HI Express experience and, I would readily choose a HI Express as a less expensive hotel then I would a Ramada or similar. Very nice indeed....(not the Ritz, of course)!

I stayed here for the July '07 bar exam and it was excellent!! It's very close to the Civic Center where the exam was given (>5 minute drive) and you can even take back roads to avoid traffic. Room was very clean and had reliable high speed internet. Shower was excellent. The hotel had a nice continental breakfast in the morning which was good for before the bar, and coffee and cookies throughout the day. The staff was very friendly & helpful - we accidentally forgot an electric toothbrush there after we left, and they sent it to us in the mail. Pool was not awesome, but that didn't matter since I wasn't planning on swimming while I was there anyway. If you don't mind staying in a hotel full of people also taking the bar, this is the place to be!
