Visiting Roanoke is a great weekend getaway trip if you live close enough to the area. There are plenty of nice little joints to visit in and around town, one of the more noticeable being the Roanoke Star sitting on top a nearby mountain. Visiting in the late afternoon was a perfect time as you get the opportunity to look out across the valley as the sun is setting and then the star will begin glow behind you and begin to light up the hilltop. Its defintely an attraction that has rewarding views and should not be missed.
