Our family (three adults and two toddlers) stayed in a two-room suite the week of June 3-June 9. This hotel exceeded our expectations, so much so that I felt I had to write a positive review after reading some of the earlier comments. The entire staff, from the bell boy who unloaded our car in the pouring rain, to the waitresses in the restaurant, to the cleaning crews were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, spacious, and set up well to travel with small children. The view of the ocean from the balcony was incredible. We spent time in all three pools with no issues pertaining to chlorine, cleanliness, or sand. Our kids were too young to be left at the kids camp, but we were welcome to participate with them in activities, and we visited with Tonka the turtle and did some arts and crafts. Every time we saw children with the camp's staff they seemed to be having a good time and the staff appeared responsible and enthusiastic. We were grateful to have a kid-friendly restaurant in the hotel so we could spend more time at the beach (plus kids eat free!). Breakfast was good, lunch was even better. Finally, I made our reservation back in February, and when I saw a lower rate on the internet I called and asked them to honor it which they did immediately with no issues. This hotel is the perfect spot to enjoy the beach and boardwalk and should be your choice if you have children.

We were there this weekend 2-4 June 06. We were not greeted by the bell boy or valet. But in their defense it was really busy. (we can do this ourselves). Check in was a breeze. Valet took our car. View was awesome! Overlooked the pool and the ocean, dead center. Loved the fact that every room had a balcony. Staff was always very friendly. The pools were incredible. The lazy river was a blast. My kids (14 and 7) had such a good time. You can walk right out to the beach, a few blocks from the shops. We would stay here again!

The room itself was clean and met my expectations, however, the phones didn't work (even after maintenace said they fixed them) and there is a track to the sliding door that sticks up about 3 inches off the floor and my 2 year old son kept tripping on it. I can't believe thet they don't have more people injured on the balcony because of it. The indoor pool is sooooo chorinated that I thought I was going to pass out. My husband and son slipped going into the pool and my husband is still in alot of pain and my son was really close to smacking his head on the side. Huge liablity waiting to happen. The lazy river wasn't as cool as we expected but was nice, although slighty cold. The elevators didn't always work either, but I prefer the stairs anyway. Overall, I am not sure that we would stay there again, but mainly because there's so much more action on the south side. The other reason would be because of safety reasons. The pool is was too slippery and I saw kids kept falling and I can't take the risk of my son tripping going face first out into the balcony again. The price was comparable to were we normally stay but the room was slighty smaller. If you don't have kids, I think this is a fine hotel-average. Very clean though. And the food at Isle of Capri was very good!!!

My fiancee and I stayed at the Sun-Spree with two friends (seperate rooms) during a very busy and HOT week for Virginia Beach. I will get straight to the point....well over 300.00 per night (in the beginning this was perfectly fine) 1st room no A/C, okay. SO, we got a new room after being told to use the A/C the "CORRECT WAY" ...A/C works..great! Refrigerator doesn't...whatever..handicap room, but just wanted to have a good time. Now it is 7:30AM someone is banging on the door, remember (we are young, travelling with another couple) of course i have a headache and I am not happy that they are wanting to clean the room that we already had booked for the following day at 7:30AM. Now that I am already awake i am thirsty no cold water in the room..I understand..go to the vending machine...EMPTY...not just water ,everything!....so I live with the warm water w/ice and go back to sleep, only to be awakened at 8:45 so maintenance could change a light bulb. Of course I told them to go away. I don't know why because they returned less than an hour later. Now for the best part, they DID return my money for the following day. I was content to just go somewhere else (I did not complain other than the A/C). UNTIL , we get to Ashland, Virginia.....SLEEP INN AWESOME...and I log onto the internet from my laptop check my credit cards and balances etc. etc. to find out the Sunspree had charged me for both days even though we only stayed one....for my rooms and our friends' room. there is no way that I would return or recommend the Sunspree. PERIOD. There are plenty of other facilities in Virginia Beach I would suggest maybe the other Holiday Inn, The Hilton, anything even the back of your car....it"s cheaper and less headaches.
