The rooms were very clean and updated. The Hotel was very quiet. We had a very positive experience and would stay again.

We love going to Virginia Beach and the Sandcastle Oceanfront Resort is definitely the place to stay! It is right at the pier and has a great resturant on site. They serve a continental breakfast, have a fitness room and they have a great heated pool! They are located right on the Boardwalk and also have bikes for visitors to rent. We like the fact that they are located near enough to shops and resturants that once we get there, we park our car and can walk most everywhere we want to go. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the room rates were great! I would definitely recommend this resort for your next stay in Virginia Beach!

We just returned from the Sandcastle. I had a coupon from room-saver, so the room was only $65, which seemed fair for the hotel and season. It was nice that the man when we checked in gave us an additional night for the same price. It saved us about $6 from the AAA price, per night. The desk people were all extra nice when we checked in, out, and when I had questions.

Our room was older,average, clean, with a beautiful view. We had a microwave, refrig. that were clean also. The continental breakfast was nice, bagels, toast, eng. muffins, oats, cereal, and an assortment of donuts, pastries, and juices. We were pleased with the location. 20th street seemed to be about the center of the boardwalk, we were at 14th. Alot of nice dining options were in walking distance.

The only things I was not happy with was that the sheet kept coming off the bed every time my husband turned. He had to get up in the middle of the night and try to fix it, which was aggravating. If you are a sound sleeper you may not have this problem, or maybe you'll get better sheets. If you're lucky. And the toilet paper was rough. You may want to take your own!

Overall, it was fine. Too bad the weather wasn't nicer. The wind was terrible and on the cool side. We only stayed 2 nights then went somewhere else.

We stayed here Sept 15, 2007 in order to attend the Sandman Triathlon the next day. At check in we were placed in room 201 across from the pool, and near to drink and ice machines, stairwell, and elevators. Immediately knew this was going to be a noisy location so requested move to a better location. We were told the hotel was completely booked and there were no other rooms available. I did not appreciate that we were probably given the worst room in the hotel although we booked and paid for the rooms in February 2007.

Although the pool closed at 10, people continued to congregate in the area and shout and run in the hallways and slam doors until almost 2 am. The group in our other room 207 was also disturbed by the yelling and running around in the hallways, and was woken up at 1:30 am by the noise. While this inconsiderate behavior was by the guests, not the hotel, I have never stayed in another hotel where the guests behaved in this manner. Fortunately when the noise started again at 6 am (someone getting large quantities of ice from the ice machine) we were getting up anyway for the triathlon.

Would not recommend staying here if you actually want to sleep during the night.
