I spent two nights at the hotel with friends. We felt so much at home there. I was particularly impressed by the staff. They were always smiling, always offering assistance and met our every need. We were part of a convention and the meals served for our group were exceptionally tasty. I am certainly going to recommend we book our retreat there again next year.
One comment. I would suggest that somewhere in your promotion package you tell your guests that there are no dishes with the suite. I did find out later that one of my friends had read that you could call the staff and they would bring dishes up for the use of the vacationer. I hope this is true. Thanks to all of the hotel personnel for such a fun time.

“Great hotel for Week-end retreat”

Virginia Beach Resort Hotel and Conference Center

4 of 5 stars
Virginia Beach, VA

Stayed at the Virginia Beach Resort Hotel for a week-end Retreat and had a great time. The rooms were very spacious, convenient w/kitchenette and comfortable for 3 women to share and not get into each others way. The view of the Chesapeake bay was breath-taking. Shopped in the gift shop/convenience store and felt the items were reasonably priced. The hotel staff was very pleasant and accommadating for a group our size. Our meals had a very personal touch with the dietary needs being taken seriously by the hotel kitchen staff. I would highly recommend this hotel for future conferences as well as family vacations.

“Terrific View of Bay”

Virginia Beach Resort Hotel and Conference Center

4 of 5 stars
Mt. Airy
Mar 4, 2007

We stayed here on a Friday night during winter. The clean room we had was on the 6th floor with a partial view of the Chesapeake. It had a small balcony. Set up as a suite, the living area is in the rear of the room and the two double beds were in the front, near the door. When you open the door to the room you are practically on top of the beds. No vent in the bathroom. The living area had a microwave, small refrigerator, desk, internet connections, dining table, pull out sleeper. The dining room had a terrific view of the bay as did the small bar area. We could not hear the neighbors and we know we had some because they were part of our group. Would definitely stay here again, would love to in the summer!

“OK for a short stay”

Virginia Beach Resort Hotel and Conference Center

I travelled to this hotel to spend time with a friend who was staying here on business. The rooms (suites) are HUGE! We had a good-sized bedroom, an adequate bath and very large living room with large dining room table. Upper floors have nice views. Interestingly, it seemed that many bedrooms (we saw several of different configurations) lacked any windows at all - these were to be found only in the living room.

Lack of sunlight (at the beach, no less!) felt depressing, and I must say that I had the eerie feeling that the bedroom was "impacted." Breakfast service and food was very good.

Good restaurants nearby, including "Citrus" for breakfast (a nice diner), and "One Fish, Two Fish," for a very good dinner, up to New York standards.

    • Liked — View of the bay from the Living Room
    • Disliked — Dark bedroom
    • Tips/Secrets: — Ask for a suite (they're all suites) with a bedroom that has WINDOWS, or you'll want to leap off the balcony by the end of your stay

“Safety hazards and disrepair”

Virginia Beach Resort Hotel and Conference Center

Oct 4, 2006
5/5 found this review helpful

I was supposed to stay here two nights, but I couldn’t do it. The room was UNSAFE and in overall DISREPAIR. Shards of glass were in the carpet next to the sink (see photo); how housekeeping missed them, I can't imagine. One electrical outlet was not fixed to the wall and it and its two attached plugs were right on the bed sheets. The door lock was nearly falling off. Every dresser drawer was off its runners and sticking out. Rusty tub fixtures and floor lamp. VERY dim lighting, even with all lights on. What else? Oh, hairs from two different people on pillows and in tub. Musty-smelling towels. Minimal, cheap toiletries & coffee, not what you’d expect from a “resort”. When I mentioned the safety issues to the management, they did not apologize but seemed unconcerned, saying only that they’d notify housekeeping. The good: terrace was spacious...but overlooked a busy (i.e., noisy) parking lot, and had only a sliver of a view of the bay. First thing next morning I went to the Hilton Garden Inn Town Center for lower price, clean, safe room and greater amenities (fastest internet I've ever experienced!). I will NEVER AGAIN stay at the Virginia Beach "Resort".
