“Property Owner Disgust!!”

The Atrium Resort

2 of 5 stars
Wilmington, DE
Jul 23, 2008

As a property owner of the Atrium, I was very disgusted to see that the hotel is still stuck in some type of time warp. For the maintenance fee that we pay yearly and now charges for renovations, you would think the upkeep of the property would be a lot better than what we found in May. I've complained to the owner's association only to be told they are in the process of renovating. I was told that the property manager of the Atrium would give me a call and I have yet to hear back from them.

Read a lot of bad reviews for this resort AFTER I booked...HOWEVER, my husband and I had a great 4 day stay! Friendly night staff (had a little mix up with the room upon arrival which was fixed fairly timely), great location (one block from oceanfront and boardwalk), and great complimentary guest activities. If you want a 5 star resort..this is not for you. The room was average, but clean...NO BUGS...Large bathroom (needs new fixtures and cabinetry)..All the kitchen amenities of home...large bedroom (needs softer mattresses and a blackout curtain on the window)...good indoor heated pool and jacuzzi. The hotel was doing renovations during this time (indoor and outdoor), so who knows how updated this place will be when they're done! We will definately stay here again.

“Disappointing”

The Atrium is one of the hotels listed in the RCI directory for which we used points for our 2 night stay. We were shocked at the condition of this "resort." Though the unit was clean (except for the condom found under the sleep sofa) th furninture and appliances were very old and in some case inoperatable. There was no maid service, no on-site activities, and staff was less than helpful in directing you to find such. The bedding was well used with holes in the linen, unraveling towels, and a mattress that made AWFUL noises with the least move. We checked out after only one night! The only good thing we saw was a very nice pool in the lobby/atrium area that was not used---probably because there were so few guests. This hotel was in no way the quality that we are used to nor did it reflect the rates that they charge. The only way to give value of any kind to this place is the fact that it is located only a block from the oceanfront though not on the front.

“Scandalous Dump!”

We had a packaged reservation through expedia.com but when we checked out, they said that they could not find it and therefore overcharged us a ridiculous amount of $103/night! Probably to make up for the fact that they had no other guests at the place. We could have stayed at a Motel 6 for a fraction of the price with the same type of amenities. The place was 70's old and moldy with outdated furniture. There was no airport pick-up and the front desk staff were clueless and unfriendly. Don't let the internet photos fool you, there is NOTHING resort-like about this place!!

My wife and I just returned from a vacation trip that included The Atrium Resort. Our room was clean and comfortable. The hot tub was relaxing. The staff was friendly and helpful. Renovations were underway but we were undisturbed by the work. We only stayed two nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Overall, an excellent value!
