“Fancy setting for pricy flavorless food”

This restaurant has a nicely decorated bar (a martini menu too!) and a very elegant-looking dining room, with high prices to match. We stopped in to Forbidden City to order takeout 15 minutes before closing. The bar waitress gladly took our order and it was ready within 10 minutes.

We ordered chicken chow mein, sesame chicken, and teriyaki chicken sticks to go, and they were bland, bland, and bland. To be fair, we asked for our order to be made without garlic. Unfortunately, it tasted like all the other seasonings were also left out.

Forbidden City's ambience might be ok for a romantic date for simple palates, but if you are looking for tasty takeout, keep looking.

You can't get any better and AUTHENTIC Chinese cuisine anywhere else! You can get your familiar dishes and some unique ones that isn't sold anywhere else. Great for both families and for a romantic evening. There's also a bar area separate from the dining area great for catching the game while dining or for a night cap. just try it ENJOY!

I really Love Forbidden City!! I used to go to their old location. The only recommendation is that they bring back their fried cheesecake that they used to serve!!! It's AWESOME!!!!All of their food is amazing and service can't get any better!!!! Cheers!!!

My husband and I have been going to Forbidden City in Va. Beach for well over a year now, reguarly. We also went when they were in their old location. The service, cleanliness, friendliness, and especially the food it top rated in our book.
We love it!!!! We take all our friends, recommend it to everyone!
The Watercress Soup is our favorite, and we always get it.
Also the Mai Tais are so good! Everything is so fresh, and always excellent. We have traveled alot, and are retired now, but above all, this is our first choice for Va. Beach.

From the warm welcome at the door thru the Custard dessert, it was a culinary experience.
Appetizers of Peking Duck, Stuffed Crab Claws, Pot Stickers and wings are out of this world. The Hawaiian Duck is to write home about.
Service was outstanding. Don't miss out on this place!
