Just returned from a stay in a condo at 5th and Atlantic. Clarion Beach Quarters. The highlights of the trip: ability to relax in a quiet atmosphere but be in walking distance of entertainment; the ability to bike on the boardwalk 24 hours daily; Virginia Beach Marine Science Center; Dirty Dicks Crab Shack on Rudee Inlet; the trolley system.
Areas of concern:
Cost of living expenses within Virginia Beach-the cost of accomodations were very good; however, the cost of boat rides, bike rentals and food were higher than our usual vacation area of Maryland. As long as you consider that additional expense in your vacation budget it is not a problem. It is balanced by the fact that there is a plentiful amount of free nightly entertainment on the boardwalk and beachstreet USA.
Traffic outside of Virginia Beach: we would have liked to make more than one trip out of Virginia Beach to the Williamsburg area; however, several current construction projects occuring on the surrounding highways caused 20-30 minute traffic delays. Therefore, we went to Busch Gardens but postponed our other trips to Williamsburg until our next visit. It will be a definite return for us. It was a 7 hour drive from PA to VB and worth every minute of the drive.

We visit V.B. every year in late March. This year the weather was very nice, at this time of year weather is a big factor.This year was very ( thank you C of C) nice.

In October, the very nice Virginia Beach area was cool and quiet. Tours of the surrounding historical areas were excellent.

Virginia Beach is a very expensive place to stay.It is worth your while to go to Myrtle Beach or Nagshead. By going a few or more miles,you can double your stay. You can stay a week at Nagshead for what you pay for 3 days at Va Beach.You can also stay in an elaborate condo for 7 nights for what you may pay for 4 days in a 1double bed room. Why is this?I love va Beach, but I want a family vacation for longer than 3 days and I can get it in another state much cheaper..
