On a week long trip through Virginia, and especially the Shenandoah National Park, I booked one night's stay at the Iris Inn after extensive research including reviews on TripAdvisor. This inn is tucked away in a quiet area of Waynesboro but is very conveniently located to restaurants and points of interest. I truly can't say enough good things about the innkeeper, Dave, (Heidi had to be out of town that evening), the property, our comfortable and beautiful room (Wildflower), the delicious breakfast, Katie (the well-loved, brilliant, and totally entertaining dog who lives in the inkeepers' quarters), the homemade cookies, coffee and tea available at all times, and the peacefulness of our stay. My only disappointment is that we only had one night to stay there. We hope to return one day and have enough time to sit on the expansive front porch to enjoy the beauty of the grounds, read a book, and relax. This inn is in the top 1% of all the inns we have stayed in, and we have stayed in many. A huge Residence Inn is being built a few miles away and we hope it doesn't adversely affect this inn's business. No way could it measure up to the quality of stay we experienced at the Iris Inn.

I was traveling on business but wanted a comfortable, pleasant, quiet, friendly, and beautiful-setting kind of place to stay. The Iris is wonderful. It's set in the woods overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains, is close to the Blue Ridge Parkway but yet with some great restaurants just 5 minutes away, and the innkeepers are incredibly pleasant.

I would stay here again and again.

We knew of the Iris Inn through my wife's employer and visited for Valentine's weekend. The only unfortunate thing about the trip was a 50 m.p.h. wind. We arrived and were promptly greeted by Dave and Heidi (the owners) and their wonderful dog Katy.

Dave showed us to the Hawk's Nest Suite, a generously appointed loft-style room with an outdoor hot tub. Even though the winds were howling, we made use of it. The room was very cozy and romantic featuring a king bed, full bath, kitchenette and living area with DirecTV.

We ate breakfast the next morning in the spacious main room, replete with woodland murals and silk wall hangings. Breakfast consisted of local ground coffee (VERY tasty), quiche and french toast, fruit and muffins. The room also features a wine bar, fireplace and library. The grounds would be beautiful had the weather not been so inhospitable.

Overall, Iris Inn is, in our opinion a step above most B&Bs and well worth the trip. We are from the Shenandoah Valley and would recommend the area in general and the Iris Inn specifically to any and all visitors. Iris Inn is proof that Virginia truly is for lovers!

The Iris Inn is a great little bed and breakfast for a quiet and relaxing getaway. The "Deep Woods" suite was quite luxurious--with a fireplace, jacuzzi bathtub, and loft, the suite accommodated our every need. Dave and Heidi made us feel quite at home, and every meal was delicious. The serene setting is a great change from the hustle of the city, and Sherando Lake is a great place to take a short hike especially when the weather is nice. I would definitely go back to the Iris Inn again!
