We don't take much time for vacation, so when I booked two nights at the Iris Inn I hoped I would be satisfied.
My expectations were easily surpassed. Starting with the easy-to-navigate web site, the whole experience was pleasant. I was able to reach Dave and Heidi by phone to ask questions, and when I made my reservation I got quick email confirmations.
It was already late to book for a holiday weekend but they juggled things around so we could get two nights at the B&B - one night in the Wildflower Room upstairs and one night in the first floor, handicapped-accessible Duck Room.
Both rooms were beautifully appointed. Both had porch access (don't underestimate this!!), and comfortable large beds. Duck had an extra daybed and Wildflower had soft comfy chairs and a sofa. We sure did enjoy the whirlpool bath in Wildflower! Duck had both a tub (with shower) and a separate stall shower with built-in seat, to provide extra options for older or differently-abled guests.
Breakfasts were terrific, the common areas comfortable and inviting, and Heidi and Dave were full of information and resources for local wineries, restaurants, and sites, all of which we took advantage of. And Katie the border collie was a pleasant addition and knew the rules!
If we vacation in the Shenandoah Valley again we're likely to return for another terrific experience.
