“Perfectly adequate”

La Quinta Inn Williamsburg

4 of 5 stars
Upstate New York

We stayed for three nights. Hotel is older but in good shape. Breakfast is VERY good, a little crowded, but allows you to eat a late lunch and save taking a meal at the theme parks. FREE local AND long distance calls. Great towels. Friendly, helpful staff. You'll have to fight off the guy in the lobby hawking time share condos in return for theme park tickets. A refrigerated tractor trailer showed up quite early and unloaded right outside our room, but those things happen. If all you need is a nice place to sleep & eat breakfast, this is a fine choice.

“Good Value”

We spent 4 nights here in Apr 08. We were concerned after reading some of the bad reviews but were satisfied in the end. It was advertised as a 3-diamond hotel and that is what it is. Perhaps some people expect a 5-diamond hotel for a 3-diamond price? As a "Returns" member we had to request a better room when checking in. Our room was clean and one of the beds was more comfortable than the other, but we had a fridge, microwave and coffee pot which were appreciated. The hotel is a good value compared to others in the area, and close to all of the attractions. The continental breakfast is included and while it is your usual "starchy" boring breakfast, it gave a sufficient breakfast to start the day and was fast. The first two days our room was cleaned well, but the last two days I had to go to the front desk to request a coffee decanter that was not broken, wash cloths, TP and kleenex. This was not a big deal for me and it was still worth what we paid for the room.

Soiled towels, and Loud buses that idle outside your parking lot window starting 3:30 a.m.- 5 a.m and idle for over an hour.
Bus driver don't care (He's up already) and the hotel management that will tell you they would rather have bus business, than yours. Strongly do not recommend.

At Laquinta every guest expierence is important to us. It doesnt matter if you have twenty rooms or one. We make it our number one priority with our bus drivers that they take into consideration all of our guest before starting there buses in the morning. The linen used by our staff is high qualty euro wave towels and sateen sheets. We change towel daily with housekeeping service, and fresh towels are available twenty four hours at our front desk.

“Middle of the Road Experience”

La Quinta Inn Williamsburg

I attended school in Williamsburg and it's one of my favorite places, plus I've got friends who still live in the area....all in all, I've been to Williamsburg a fair amount and have either stayed personally in many hotels in the area or have had friends who have stayed in them.
Personally, I've stayed at the La Quinta a couple of times and have found the hotel a pleasant place to stay each time. It's not a high-end hotel and the price reflects that. If you're looking for a really nice hotel with more amenities, look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a decent place to stay that's conveniently located and close to Colonial Williamsburg and restaurants, then the LaQuinta is a fairly safe bet. The rooms are average-sized and the beds have always been very comfortable when I've stayed there. The hotel is located on Bypass Road and it's close to a number of restaurants (Cracker Barrel, a Chinese Buffet behind it the in the shopping center that's great, a Dairy Queen) and a mini-Golf place that's fun in the evenings. It's also close to the local K-Mart if you needed something that you left behind.
The only caveat is one that's been mentioned on other reviews---it's one of those motels that have outside entrances and no elevators to the second-floor. If mobility is an issue, you might want to look elsewhere if getting up to the second floor really isn't possible. Also, the pool is outdoors and not heated so if you come visit in the off-season and have your heart-set on swimming, find another hotel.
