“Affordable for family and pets!”

La Quinta Inn Williamsburg

4 of 5 stars
Massachusetts
Aug 3, 2008

We booked the La Quinta in Williamsburg for two nights at a rate of $99 a night during PEAK summer season with my AAA discount.

This is an older style hotel with rooms on the outside. It looked dated on the outside but was clean and comfortable inside the room. Our main purpose for staying here was mainly for a place to sleep and relax after visiting Busch Gardens.

Our stay was based on my wifes recent stay at a La Quinta in Portland Maine and really enjoyed her time with our daughter.
Our room had two double beds with a sofa bed which was perfect for our family of 5.

This was a standard room -- nothing fancy but not run down either.

The pool was huge.

Boarding our under 20lb dog was FREE!

The beds here was REALLY comfortable even more comfortable at the Marriott Towne Place Suites which we recently stayed in.

Breakfast was OK for coffee, yogurt, and a make your own waffle but the OJ was low quality. Some people would take all the fruit and this was not replaced.

For negatives:
* The AC unit in the room had some questionable substance in the grates (possibly mold)?
* Bathroom could use an update.

    • Disliked — Bathroom could use update (minor comment)

“Good Value, Comfortable Rooms...”

La Quinta Inn Williamsburg

Jul 30, 2008

We stayed here two nights while visiting Colonial Williamsburg... The hotel staff while we were there, was pleasant and attentive. We had a problem the first night, the toilet bowl was constantly running after a flush. After telling the front desk via phone, a maintenance person was up to our room within 10 minutes and corrected the situation. He was friendly and fast... In and Out. Our second night, another problem with the toilet... and since the hotel was unable to resolve the toilet problem immediately, they relocated us to the unoccupied room next door. We were satisfied with the remedy, since it was late and didnt want to wait up for a repair person.

Our beds were comfortable and clean as was the room. There was no smell in either of our rooms. The rooms were large enough for a family of four and lots of luggage. The bathrooms could stand some updating and the exhaust fan was inoperable in both rooms. The coffee pot in our first room leaked coffee all over the counter when we tried to make a pot (luckily we were nearby to catch it before it ran onto the floor) Breakfast was plentiful and enough to satisfy us in the morning before heading out.

We used the pool the second night and it was refreshing, warm and clean. Toasty warm, clean towels were available throughout the night as well.

“It's a DUMP”

La Quinta Inn Williamsburg

1 of 5 stars
North Carolina
Jul 27, 2008

There is only one way to describe this motel...It is a DUMP. We were assigned a room above highway workers who were hanging out by their trucks with their rooms doors open drinking beer in the parking lot. We didn't even enter out room and returned to the desk to insist on a new room - we have 2 young children. The person a the desk said they would tell the beer drinkers to go into their room but my husband insisted on a new room. We rec'd a room that was DIRTY - piles of dirt and hair in the corners of the tiny bathroom. Worn bedidng, furniture missing moulding ... it's a scary place. I immediately cancelled our next 2 nights and got online to search for a new hotel. I will NEVER stay at any La Quinta again. Beware of this motel (not hotel) it is definitely not 3 star. We ended up staying across the street at a Country Inns and Suites and although it was more expensive, it was nice and definitely worth the $$.

“1st Motel I Ever Walked Out.”

La Quinta Inn Williamsburg

Jul 3, 2008

1st of all the front desk clerk would not acknowledge I was there and kept answering the phone, even giving directions to the hotel to a potential customer. Then when finally checking in, they had my name correct and a completely different address. Once that was finally corrected, we went to our room afer driving for 6 hours from Pa. to find that our room was not cleaned yet. This room was for a king size bed and the bed was a mess and there were dirty towels all over the place. There was also a very bad musty smell and a smell comparable to not being cleaned for a few weeks. After going back and explaining to the front desk and also the head housekeeper, we were told that our original room that I booked thru AAA 6 weeks prior was not available and they had to give me this room. I dont care about that but still no excuse as to why they would send me to a room not cleaned yet. The head housekeeper then informed us they would spray some air freshner in the room. At this point I have had it with this place and she did not like us telling her the room needed alot more than air freshner. We were offered to stay in another room with 2 twin beds for a discount for 1 nite then have to move to our original room the next day. I really did not want to do this since we were planning on attending Busch Gardens for the next day would be very tired to move all of our belongings again from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor down the stairs since there are no elevators here. We checked out the room anyway, it was clean but still had a bad musty smell. I am an asthmatic and I shouldnt have to pay good money to sleep in a room like this. At that point we canceled our reservation and booked at a nearby Hotel.

“Par for the course”

La Quinta Inn Williamsburg

4 of 5 stars
Northern Virginia
Jun 26, 2008

Pictures on the LaQuinta website are a little misleading. This is a Motel, as in exterior entrance to the rooms. It is a bit of an older facility, but the furnishings are up to date and everything was clean. The included breakfast was basic but good, comparable to a Hampton Inn. A very family-oriented crowd was staying there.

Overall, above average for the price.
