I'll preface my comments by saying that is not a review of a recent stay at the Econo Lodge Parkway Motel. When I was a student at W&M in the late 70s, I had a seasonal job with the Williamsburg Hotel/Motel Association, which represented and booked telephone reservations for virtually all hotels and motels in the area, and the Econo Lodge Parkway was regarded by the WHMA as the best-kept secret in Williamsburg. This small motel is "hidden" in a quiet, peaceful setting off of Parkway Drive and exudes a certain charm, and few tourists or visitors to Williamsburg even know the motel is there unless directed to it. When my parents came to my graduation, I booked reservations for them at the motel, and they were most satisfied with the lodgings and accommodations. There are many more luxurious and expensive hotels and motels in Williamsburg (and good luck finding any with a vacancy during the peak tourist season), but for the price I'd say the Econo Lodge Parkway is one of the best values available. I plan to visit Williamsburg later this month and, if I decide to stay overnight, I'll certainly stop first at the Econo Lodge Parkway.
