We picked this hotel to stay at while we visited Busch Gardens for three days. It actually was cheaper (by $21) to book it directly online (using the internet user's rate) and buy tickets at the gate of BG than to book it through Busch Gardens - same hotel. Anyway, check-in went fine. We asked for additional coffee for the room and towels and they loaded us up. There is only one elevator for four floors so sometimes that was slow but otherwise there were no check in problems.
Internet wi-fi was free but spotty. The first day I got a fairly good signal at the desk in the room but the second day I had to sit on one of the beds to get a signal. The front desk acknowleded the problem and said most people came to the lobby.
The room was clean but not overly cool. It was extremely hot while we were there (over 100º each day) and the little AC unit was pumping away which made the room tolerable but not very cool like we like it. The shower was clean and there was no bad smells. The hallway was hot as the end doors were propped open for some reason.
There are no queens size beds available at this hotel.
One of my room access cards didn't work. They re-programmed it but it didn't work then either. At check-out, I told the girl at the desk and she threw it away.
The first morning the power went out in the area which affected parts of the hotel. In our room, the TV and AC did not work but other outlets did so we adapted. It came back on after being out for about two hours (6 AM to 8 AM). The continental breakfast had no waffles or hot coffee so we had to go out to eat (IHOP about a mile down the road). The free continental breakfast is adequate. There was one long line but it consisted mostly of people waiting to make waffes. We finally started telling people that if they wanted danishes, coffee, cereal and fruit to go a different route and get out of the waffle line (or the 'awful waffle' line as we called it). To get to the breakfast area, you have to go outside and re-enter from an exterior door. A lot of people loaded up and took their food back to their rooms.
Our rooms were tended to nicely on our return each day but as I find at most places, the staff never replace the coffee accessories. No replacement cups or condiments. You would think they would see the empties in the trash and resplace stuff.... So I had to go down to the desk and get more coffee and then I got some creamers and sugar from the coffee area.
We had friends in an adjoining room and never heard them at all - nor any other noise from the hallway. They said they could not hear us or our TV either.
The pool was fine as was the hot tub. But after a long day in the hot sun, the hot tub was too much so I only stayed there a few minutes one night. There were towels available there.
Check out was fine with no problems.
So if you are thinking of a clean and adequate place to stay while visiting the area, I would recommend the place. I travel a lot for business and this hotel does not have the amenities some larger ones do, but you get what you pay for. And this met our needs without compromising cleanliness.
