“Nice place, showing it's age but clean & freindly”

Stayed April 10th to 13th 2008. Our room was clean and we had no problems. We never got to the pool or breakfast so can't tell you about them. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was a bit worn but it was clean. We opened the windows when we got there and the sound of the fountain was very soothing. But since we were on the first floor I did not want to leave the window open all night so I could hear it. I did notice someone complaining about the sound of it in another review. Our room was right across from the fountain and we could only hear it when the windows were open. It was a good stay.

“Stay away!”

Comfort Inn Historic Area

Apr 27, 2008

This hotel is sitting right next to a construction site! The first room
we stayed in was very nice.....but we were awakened at six to the sounds of heavy equipment. We decided to tough it out, but the next night we were awakened to the sounds of screaming. Three busloads of teenagers had arrived, and wanted the world to know it. The front desk clerk was very rude when we mentioned it. He said that they had "security". Were they from a prison. we wondered? They did agree to move us to the other side of the hotel, but not until the next day because of housekeeping.

The other side was most definitely "the other side". The floor had not been vacuumed and the room was a definite step down. No fluffy pillows, and the room smelled of mold and dog dander. It was just unclean. We checked out early, and would not reccommend this place to anyone. The male clerk was rude and treated you like you were a bother. When will people realize that customer service is the most important thing you can provide to a customer? l

Be aware that this hotel has rooms with indoor corridors and rooms with outdoor corridors...this is not stated on their website. We were given a room with an outdoor corridor and told that the hotel was booked solid when we asked to be switched. The room smelled stale, the fixtures were outdated and the sink didn't drain well. The "free wireless high-speed internet access" only worked outside of our room. The HVAC unit was noisy and occassionally rattled very loudly, waking us up, so we eventually turned it off and tolerated the thermal discomfort. The indoor pool can only be accessed by walking outdoors and the water was very cold. We will not go back.

“Very nice motel”

Good, clean motel with a nice location for the price - within a mile of the heart of Colonial Williamsburg. Nice pool. Very nice breakfast.

Only negative was the lady working the desk that was just to help guide guests around the area was not very friendly. She provided the information, but never once cracked a smile. But the next morning before we left there was another lady there who was working with a family and was paying a lot of attention to the kids - lots of smiles. So maybe it was just the lady, or a bad day for her.

The staff were very pleasant and helpfull. The room was exceptionally clean, with comfortable beds and 4 pillows on each bed. We peeked at the indoor pool, it looked nice and many people swimming in it, we just didn't have time to swim...for the summer the outdoor pool looked to be good size and nice. The continental breakfast was good. The only complaint that I and others had were that the toaster really needs to be next to the bagels and english muffins. But I would definetly stay at this hotel again. I had a very nice and pleasant stay.... oooops one more thing I forgot to mention,,,, they have a HUGE fountain out front of the hotel.... well our first night there I was lying there and said "wow we are having one heck of a rain storm." After awhile I decided to get up and look out the window at the terrible rain storm that we were having,, to my surprise it wasn't raining it was the LOUD fountain.... but I would take a fountain over rain anyday.
