“Nice Place!”

We started by looking through the website for somewhere that was close to Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg. Comfort Inn Historic seemed to fit the bill. We were exhausted after our day at Busch Gardens and all we really wanted was a clean, comfortable place to sleep. The staff was nice and check in was a breeze. They offered a menu of a local restaurant that delivered to the hotel free of charge. We took them up on it. The food arrived in a timely manner, and they delivered directly to the room, which was great since we were sooo tired. The food was burger/sandwich type and reasonably priced. Pretty good...
The room was clean and roomy. We are a family of 6 and were required to book 2 rooms for our one family. We were pleased that we were given rooms side by side with an adjoining door. (You'd think this would be a "given", but believe me sometimes we don't even get rooms on the same FLOOR!) No fridge or microwave in the room, which is a bummer, but I knew that when I booked it.
The pool area was nice and clean. We didn't spend much time there.
All in all it was a nice place! No complaints and would definately book again!

“ok for the cost...”

This property is ok for the price. If you plan to stay long or spend much time in the room, or if you have several people in the family, I would suggest another hotel. The rooms are small, and the bathroom is also. Unlike some motels, the sink/vanity is in the same room as the toilet and shower which makes getting ready take longer. Our room did not have a dresser (the tv was in a taller, upright cabinet with 3 drawers), although there was a mirror over where a dresser would normally be. We really missed the dresser top for putting hairbrushes, keys, etc. I saw inside another room which had the door open (being cleaned) that had a dresser instead of the cabinet, so that varies.
The towels were rough. The beds sagged towards the middle. The A/C was noisy. You had to go outside and a long way to get to the indoor pool or breakfast area. The breakfast was ok- had pastries, cereal, boiled eggs, juice and coffee. Also, had waffle irons, but LONG waits for them, so we passed. Indoor pool water was cold- not heated.
On the plus side, the lobby was lovely, the location was good, the room appearred to be clean, and the staff brought towels to the indoor pool area when told the pile was empty.

“great value”

Comfort Inn Historic Area

Jun 15, 2008

Great value for $99. There is and indoor and outdoor pool. There is free coffee in the lobby and breakfast is included. The breakfast was fine but there was a big wait for the 2 waffle makers at times. A third one would have been nice. The access to the breakfast was inconvenient - you had to go outside and around the front of the building. Unfortunately, the fitness room didn't open until 10:00 making it impossible to use before heading out for the day.
We'd probably stay here again though there are zillions of choices quite nearby.

“Nice place, showing it's age but clean & freindly”

Comfort Inn Historic Area

Stayed April 10th to 13th 2008. Our room was clean and we had no problems. We never got to the pool or breakfast so can't tell you about them. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was a bit worn but it was clean. We opened the windows when we got there and the sound of the fountain was very soothing. But since we were on the first floor I did not want to leave the window open all night so I could hear it. I did notice someone complaining about the sound of it in another review. Our room was right across from the fountain and we could only hear it when the windows were open. It was a good stay.

“Stay away!”

Comfort Inn Historic Area

Apr 27, 2008

This hotel is sitting right next to a construction site! The first room
we stayed in was very nice.....but we were awakened at six to the sounds of heavy equipment. We decided to tough it out, but the next night we were awakened to the sounds of screaming. Three busloads of teenagers had arrived, and wanted the world to know it. The front desk clerk was very rude when we mentioned it. He said that they had "security". Were they from a prison. we wondered? They did agree to move us to the other side of the hotel, but not until the next day because of housekeeping.

The other side was most definitely "the other side". The floor had not been vacuumed and the room was a definite step down. No fluffy pillows, and the room smelled of mold and dog dander. It was just unclean. We checked out early, and would not reccommend this place to anyone. The male clerk was rude and treated you like you were a bother. When will people realize that customer service is the most important thing you can provide to a customer? l
