My husband, in-laws, 5-month old daughter, and I just returned from a weeks stay at the Williamsburg Plantation. After reading many of the mixed reviews on Trip Advisor about Williamsburg Planation, I was a bit skeptical about the resort, but it turned out to be a wonderful place to stay. We were greeted by the friendly staff, who did ask us if we wanted to sign up to take a survey and a tour, at which we stated "no". They did call us one time in the middle of the week, and once again we stated that we did not wish to take the tour and they did not bother us again.

At WP, we stayed in the 2 bedroom upstairs unit, which had a kichette rather than a full kitchen, which was fine, since we don't really cook when we are on vacation. Our unit was very clean and really a home away from home. There is a small washer and dryer next to the upstairs unit for both the downstairs guests and upstairs guests to share, which was fine. We never ran into any problems of needing the washer/dryer at the same time/ They also provide you with the detergent. The dishes, silverware, pots, pans, etc. were very clean. You are asked to load the diswasher with any dirty dishes and run it prior to checking out of your unit. They also ask that you strip the sheets off the bed before checking out as well. This I thought was alittle strange.

The Master bedroom had a small bathroom with a shower/tub, and like others have mentioned the room with the double beds has the true "master bath" with a jacquzzi tub. It didn't matter to my husband and I. We just put the our daughter's Pack N' Play in the middle of the double beds. You can move them together if you want to though if you so desire that Master bath.

There is a 7-11 with gas station conveniently located almost next door to the entrance of the resort. You can basically walk there. Also about a mile away is Richmond Road which has about 60 restaurants and Outlets. I would definitely skip seeing The Candle Factory and Williamsburg Pottery, as they were nothing to brag about.

If you have the time, Norfolk and Virginia Beach are only about a hour away. Williamsburg Plantation also provides you with directions to those and other places of interest.

Overall we all enjoyed our stay at Williamsburg Plantation and would recommend it to those wishing to visit Williamsburg.

“Rooms Spacious but housekeeping needs some work”

We stayed at the resort for one week and found the rooms to be quite spacious. The cleanliness was OK but some items needed special attention. Of special note: One of the bathrooms was previously occupied by someone with a stomach virus leaving their mark. This was quite noticeable and should have been properly attended to by the staff. Dark carpets are in the rooms and dirt is very noticeable. Additional vacuuming by the staff is needed.

There is no grocery store onsight and no bar area by the pool. The pool was fine and the other outdoor amenities were good. The gym did not have a universal but had a Bowflex which I do not care for.

The staff was kind and courteous. The hotel is a 5 to 15 minute ride to most attractions and restaurants.

“Loved the hotel”

I just got back from the Williamsburg plantation. It was an EXCELLENT hotel. I have no clue what people are talking about the rooms being horrible with bugs? The only bad part was that the people below us hogged the washer and dryer we didn't like that to much. We went in the pool someone said it was mercy but i think it was lovely. We only got in the pool two times but the reason we didn't go in there was because williamsburg has so many wonderful things to see that you wont have time to spend your time in the pool. We loved the hotel the thing is we hadn't seen the security people at all at our stay but that was because we usually got home around 10:00 and got into bed because we were very tired! Let me tell you believe this review. The hotel was a great hotel. It wasnt at all bad except for the laundry part. But that was only in our apartment or room. We told the front desk and they apologized, we told them it wasn't there fault and the people at the front desk were absolutely plesant as ever it was great! I would definitely recommend this hotel and i would also come back again.

“very pleased”

My family stayed at the Williamsburg Plantation for a week and we loved it. Our unit was clean and we had no problems. I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews, but when we got there, we did not encounter anything negative. We even got a better unit than what we were supposed to get. We had a minor problem with the bathroom and it was fixed immediately. The people at the front desk were pleasant and it was a delightful experience. They did ask us to do the survey, but we told them that we were not interested and they never asked again. The pool was clean and the children enjoyed it very much. It was close to Busch Gardens, Water Country and all the restaurants. We were very pleased!

“Great Family Time!”

Williamsburg Plantation

We got together with family from Idaho, New Jersey and us from Illinois - 6 adults and 5 children in all. We had 2 condos (first and second floor) which was great because we kept a door block in each door and we had free riegn between the 2 "apartments". Our kids loved the pool!! We felt safe with then there. The little kids had a great time in the toddler pool - so nice to have it seperated! The condos are very spacious! Having the laundry was VERY convenient, sure came in handy! NOTE: the upstairs condos don't have an oven or regular cook range. For us it was fine since we were occupying both lower and upper levels.
Everything was clean and there was enough basic kitchen items for us to cook all our dinners there and most of our lunches. Dishwasher got lots of use! Plenty of shopping near by, inc. a Wal-Mart Supercenter, so we lacked for nothing we couldn't quickly purchase at a decent price. And of course the Outlets for fun shopping! We had 120 degree heat indexes while there, we spent lots of time in the air conditioned condo and the pool was great on those days.
NOTE: check into all prices/times for local attractions ahead of visit, hard to locate info. while there. Discount tickets available at resort but w/cash or travelers checks onl!! As for attractions we found some to be pricey for what was included (Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, etc.). We enjoyed it all, dispite the weather and the costs. It was comforting to know we had a nice place to come "home" to after playing tourists during the day!
We had a situation with a toilet upon arrival, which they couldn't fix right away since "it's not considered an emergency" and they don't have maintenance on duty over the weekends. Seems to me with as many units as they have now, they SHOULD have maintnance on weekends. But it was fixed first thing Mon. We had a short list of minor things to notify them of, things they wouldn't know needed attention unless someone said something.
Our 5 year old had a run in with ground bees! 6 stings, that we could find! It was horrific and happened right outside the patio door. We called and they sent someone right away. The GM called to follow up on my sons condition. It took them a couple days and several treatments to try and get rid of them but they stayed on top of it and called to notify us when they were doing something so we could stay away.
IMPORTANT: Stay away from the "45 Min. Survey"!!! My parents who own the time share, tried to say no to going several times but the resort kept calling. Finally they gave in but they spent over 4 hours there!!! 4 hours that we could have all been together as a family - none of us was very happy. It was the hard sell for an upgrade (not a survey) and it was not easy for them to walk away. We did get extra free lunches out of it because of the extra time and we used the gift card to help pay for Busch Gardens, so that was nice. Just be prepared for the hard sell and to spend aLOT of time.
Overall, we truly enjoyed our week there and we are looking forward to doing it again! Hoping for a little better weather next time though.
