My husband, in-laws, 5-month old daughter, and I just returned from a weeks stay at the Williamsburg Plantation. After reading many of the mixed reviews on Trip Advisor about Williamsburg Planation, I was a bit skeptical about the resort, but it turned out to be a wonderful place to stay. We were greeted by the friendly staff, who did ask us if we wanted to sign up to take a survey and a tour, at which we stated "no". They did call us one time in the middle of the week, and once again we stated that we did not wish to take the tour and they did not bother us again.
At WP, we stayed in the 2 bedroom upstairs unit, which had a kichette rather than a full kitchen, which was fine, since we don't really cook when we are on vacation. Our unit was very clean and really a home away from home. There is a small washer and dryer next to the upstairs unit for both the downstairs guests and upstairs guests to share, which was fine. We never ran into any problems of needing the washer/dryer at the same time/ They also provide you with the detergent. The dishes, silverware, pots, pans, etc. were very clean. You are asked to load the diswasher with any dirty dishes and run it prior to checking out of your unit. They also ask that you strip the sheets off the bed before checking out as well. This I thought was alittle strange.
The Master bedroom had a small bathroom with a shower/tub, and like others have mentioned the room with the double beds has the true "master bath" with a jacquzzi tub. It didn't matter to my husband and I. We just put the our daughter's Pack N' Play in the middle of the double beds. You can move them together if you want to though if you so desire that Master bath.
There is a 7-11 with gas station conveniently located almost next door to the entrance of the resort. You can basically walk there. Also about a mile away is Richmond Road which has about 60 restaurants and Outlets. I would definitely skip seeing The Candle Factory and Williamsburg Pottery, as they were nothing to brag about.
If you have the time, Norfolk and Virginia Beach are only about a hour away. Williamsburg Plantation also provides you with directions to those and other places of interest.
Overall we all enjoyed our stay at Williamsburg Plantation and would recommend it to those wishing to visit Williamsburg.
