Something must have happened in mid-October, because we completely agree with the previous two review and cannot understand the earlier high reviews. Both my husband's meal and my meal were so disappointing that we gave up, took the steak home for our dogs and went out for hot dogs for ourselves.
The salad was very fresh, as were the mixed vegetables with the entree. Had this been a vegetarian place, that, and the courteous waitstaff, would have been good signs. But we were using a gift card to go out for beef. My steak tasteless, tough and very rare, not even close to the medium rare that I ordered. The mashed potatoes were overspiced and mushy. My husband's baby back ribs were cooked OK, with a layer of barbeque sauce that tasted straight out of the can. His roasted potatoes were tough.
We should have been suspicious when stopping by earlier in the day to confirm our reservations. Made through an electronic service that did not confirm, we decided to check. They had no record of our call, and only one reservation in the book for a busy weekend evening. There were few cars in the lot, and few patrons, but the candlelight and white tables clothes suggested the romantic, upscale place we have been promised. Only after we got there did we notice the white cloth were vinyl, the booths cramped and the bar set with a television to entertain the staff who outnumbered the patrons.
A couple near us sent back on of their dinners, another left before ordering, and at least one came in, looked at the menu and left. With that, and the numerous issues with each plate, we decided to give up and not even bother to ask the restaurant to fix it. Arguably, we should have given them a chance, and certainly if we had been paying without the gift card we would have had to deal with the distraction. This way, we avoided the unpleasantries and moved on. At least our dogs had a great treat the next morning.
