“Classic steakhouse”

The restaurant is a "throwback" to old time steak houses. The atmosphere is warm but not overly formal; excellent old fashioned waiter. The steak was excellent and properly cooked. The salad dressing and baked potato fixings are brought to the table. The scallops and shrimp were quite good - not as good as the steak. A bit pricey, but worth it (about 25.00 to 30.00 per person). Not a place to take kids though - get the sitter and enjoy yourself at this fine place.

“Good prime rib...”

We dined at Aberdeen during our Williamsburg vacation and enjoyed the meal. My husband and I both had prime rib. It was moist and tasty. If you like dry prime rib, this is not the place for you. Salad, rolls, and a side (I had baked potato) accompanied the meal. We had water to drink. Our bill was $55. We would return to Aberdeen.

With good reviews we made reservations at the Aberdeen Barn the week of Easter. It was not busy and the food did not meet our expectations. Prime rib was acturally not as good as some of the steak houses. Service was not exceptional, poorly made drinks. Over all it was a disappointing meal and experience.

“A Great First Night Out”

Aberdeen Barn

Mar 31, 2008

We were going to eat closer to BG but had to bring our girls back to condo to change clothes after rain at BG so went here instead. It was great!! The girls almost filled up on cheese and crackers. The seafood bisque and French Onion soups were delicious. We had prime rib cooked just right, grilled seafood (mildly disappointed in the salmon), and ribs. All in all, it was a very good first night in Williamsburg meal. Our waiter was attentive and kept our water glasses filled (that was no small job). I would love to go back for more soup!

My wife and I have loved visiting Williamsburg since the mid-70s. We have tried many great restaurants over the years but have never found a better place to visit than the Aberdeen Barn. Our experience was excellent.

I'm not sure how we have missed it until now but I am certainly delighted that we made that our selection last night. I'll guarantee it will NOT be our last visit. We had no prior reservation and they were busy during the week-end following Valentines day, still they were kind enough to take us as a walk-in.

Every aspect of the meal was great. A warm attentive long-term staff, excellent food (there is a reason they specialize in prime rib) and a great casual atmosphere are sure to make it a great dining experience for you and your family.

We saw older couples, young couples with small children, groups of golfers and groups of ladies apparently in town to shop. Obviously, Aberdeen Barn is not a secret to anyone.

I can hardly wait to go back.

Negatives: When coming south on Richmond Road it is difficult to get to their parking lot. You have to beyond the restaurant and double-back. A minor inconvenience for a great meal. Also, I tend to like very hot horseradish and the horseradish served with my prime rib was a bit mild to my taste, but that is hardly even a blemish on a great experience.

Plus: There are several good hotels within a block. We stayed at SpringHill Suites, another good choice.
