We got delivery from Sal's while in Williamsburg. The food was slightly below average sub shop Italian food - my local small town shops in Maryland are much better. I'm not sure who rated this place best in Williamsburg, but if it is, I feel sorry for the city.
My grandma and I ordered Gnocchi, which were balloon-like and had sauce that tasted like it was out of a can. We also got Eggplant Parmigiana, which was ok, but not crispy, with only a little cheese and barely any sauce. The salads that came with the meal were pretty good and had a nice peppercorn dressing.
It took nearly an hour and a half for the food to arrive, though we were told about 45 mins. The delivery guy was nice, and delivery as an option was convenient. It was also good that they threw in forks, knives and paper plates.
Overall, I was expecting really good casual Italian food and got something closer to mediocre fast food. We were disappointed.
