What a great little place! I'm a huge fan of Bainbridge Island and was looking for something else to do on my latest visit to the island. Take the ferry across from Seattle and it's a quick, easy trip out to the winery. You turn on a dirt road and the tasting room is at the end of the road. They're open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm.
The girls working at the tasting room were very nice and answered all our questions -- you can try one wine for free, three for $1 or all eight wines for $3. All of the wines are very good -- of course everybody will have those they like better than others, but you can try them all and then buy them right onsite.
We visited on a Sunday, which is by far the best day to go because the owner of the vineyard, Gerard, takes you on a guided tour of the vineyard. Not only is his story and the way they do business interesting, but the vineyard is gorgeous. It's really interesting to get a tour of a small, family-owned vineyard versus a tour of a huge operation (like Columbia Crest, which I did on my last trip to Seattle). There's really no comparison...Gerard and his wife Jo Ann have got the real thing. An afternoon not to be missed!
