Best Western Icicle Inn

Last weekend we stayed at the Best Western Icicle Creek and thought the hotel was nice. It was not fancy but felt cozy and friendly. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortalbe.
This BW is a little nicer than the one we stayed in the following night on Lake Chelan.
The view from the room was the back parking lot so not thrilled with that. Breakfast was OK, nothing special but it was included in the room price.
We would probably stay here again unless we found a similiar hotel a little closer to town. If you drive to town it is maybe a 2 minute or so drive and if you want to walk it is maybe 10 minutes.
The hotel was quiet at night so that was nice as we have stayed in some noisy places.

We spent three delightful days at the Icicle Inn in Leavenworth WA. The suite we had was large and comfortable with a hot tub and view of the mountains, the pool and miniature golf course. The sitting area was furnished with a couch and chairs which faced a corner fireplace. Having a microwave, frig and coffee machine in the room was handy.

The staff was friendly and accommodating of our requests. I especially enjoyed the complimentary breakfasts. The hard boiled eggs were a welcome change from the rubbery scrambled eggs you generally find at most breakfasts. Also, there were pots of jam and jelly to use on the toast or muffins. Most places use the small 1/2 teaspoon sized plastic encased jelly packets that never seem to taste right and are a blight on the environment.

I am a tea drinker and I am always disappointed that the management uses the same equipment to serve coffee as well as tea, causing the tea to taste of coffee. This does not happen at the Icicle Inn and I was told by an employee that if someone does put coffee in the teapot, it is not used for tea water again. This attention to detail sets this hotel apart from many we have stayed at. My husband loved the coffee they served. There was always coffee and tea available in the lobby.

One afternoon we had a fun time playing miniature golf and visited the arcade. Great games in the arcade.

I think it was the little touches that I liked best at the Icicle Inn. Our room was right next to the soda and ice machine but they had put a door on that room, so we never heard any noise from it. Nor did we hear any hall noise like you do at many hotels. We did have lots of noise from the pool at night but they closed the pool at 10PM so it really wasn’t a problem.

On a balcony overlooking the lobby is a small sitting area with books and a computer. Since we didn’t travel with our laptop, it was nice to be able to check business and personal email on the hotel provided computer.

The Icicle Inn has a European feel about it but has all the comforts and amenties that we Americans demand. We will definitely be back.

While this hotel is a nice hotel, after staying at the Bavarian Lodge we were somewhat disappointed. My advice is to stay at the Best Western first and then the Bavarian Lodge and you won't be disappointed.

The rooms, service, breakfast, etc. was not up to our standards. The location is not as handy to the shopping as the Bavarian Lodge either.

Hate to keep comparing to the Bavarian Lodge, but to us there was just no comparison.

However, if this is your first visit and you can't get a room at the Bavarian then this hotel is a good choice. The restaurant had decent food, service was ok. Rooms were clean, amenties were average, bathroom was average and the beds were comfortable.

“Wonderful Stay at Icicle Inn in Leavenworth”

My husband and I stayed a week at the Icicle Inn. Since we were there last year, the inn has been refurbished and the new beds aree very comfortable. The staff is friendly and service oriented. The morning buffet with Belgian waffles, fruit, juice, cold cereal, hard boiled eggs and pastries is available from 7 to 10 a.m. Although the location is half mile west of the center of town, it is near enough for walking and there is a trolley. For hikers there are lots of nearby trails. There is a fish hatchery on Icicle Creek (more like a river) and there is an interpretive center, outdoor ponds and across the river is a trail. For shoppers Leavenworth has numberous shops and restaurants. Our favorite is Cafe Mozart for dinner which has delicious roast duck on the menu. The Soup Cellar is a bargain with sandwiches and soups for lunch. During the summer it also serves breakfast daily and has a prime rib dinner buffet on weekends. The rooms are comfortable nicely decorated and there is hot coffee and tea available all day in the lobby. A pool and jacuzzi are open til 10 p.m. each night. Wi-fi is available and if you don't have your own computer, there is one available in the library area.

The charming town of Cashmere is about 8 miles east on the Wenatchee River. It is like stepping back 50 years in time. There is a museum which has an outdoor pioneer village and tables for picnicing. For info access www.cashmeremuseum.com Downtown is the Aplet and Cotlet -- the gift shop has free samples of these yummy candies.

Near Wenatchee (25 miles east of Leavenworth) is the Ohme Gardens, which were built on a bluff overlooking the Columbia River. Built by a farming family over several decades, the gardens are now part of the state park system. More info is at www.ohmegardens.com

“Great Hotel”

My husband and I and our 4 year old son stayed at this hotel March 30-April 2. We got a great deal on a Spring Break Special that included putt putt golf, movie tickets, arcade tokens, and other goodies. Check in was quick and the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The public areas and rooms were very clean and well kept. Our room was great and the furnishings seemed fairly new. The room included two queen beds, table with two chairs, easy chair, TV, refrigerator (nice size), microwave, coffee maker & hair dryer. Seattles Best Coffee and some spa type toiletries were provided. Housekeeping cleaned our room daily and took notice of Do Not Disturb sign when we had it out.

The hotel has a Fun Center next door which is part of the Best Western Property. We were able to see a movie, play arcade games and putt putt golf on site. There was also a snack bar area with a pool table.

There is a pool (covered in winter) and a hot tub. The hot tub was very hot, so we didn't use it much. The pool was great and heated to a very comfortable temperature. Hours were 8-10 for anyone, with adults only 10-11pm.

The hotel has a restaurant (JJ Hills) on site which is open for dinner only. There is a little train that goes around the room, which my son loved. We ate here and received 10% off since we were guests at the hotel and kids eat free with our Spring Break Package. Dinner was good and service was friendly. My son got to choose a toy from a treasure chest after dinner. Room service is available when the restaurant is open.

Complimentary breakfast is served in the restaurant in the morning. This is buffet style and included waffles, biscuits & gravy, boiled eggs, deli meats & cheeses, yogurt, cereal, bagels, muffins, cinnamon rolls, scones, milk, juice, coffee, etc. Very good.

You can walk to the town of Leavenworth from the hotel, but it is a ways. There is also a trolley available for 25 cents.
