My husband and I have 3 kids between us and we were went over to Leavenworth to get married. We went on our own and left the kids with my sister. It was the second wedding for both of us, so the wedding and honeymoon were all about us this time. We got to stay longer than at most hotels because the Icicle Inn always has getaway specials, so we got some extras and spent less than we would have normally and got to spend one more day there than if we were to stay at another hotel in town for the same price. Which in turn meant we could spend more money on going out to all the restaurants and shops in town. We stayed in the bottom floor fireplace/jacuzzi/king suite and it was quite large. The bed was extremely comfortable and there were plenty of towels and 8 pillows on the bed! I'm 5'11 and my husband is 6'4" and we could both fit into the jacuzzi tub. We had to put our legs over each other, but we did it and I think they have the instant hot water attached to the tub b/c the tub was HOT! The decor of the room is your usual hotel style, but very very clean. The view from our room was a beautiful mountain and the pool. This wasn't too noisy as it wasn't summer, so there weren't a lot of kids there. We could hear kids running up and down the hallway, but it was limited and kids gotta have fun too :)
The breakfast was a good buffet consisting of make your own waffles..D'LISH, various toasts and breads, yogurt, cereal, fruit, biscuits and gravy...also good, coffee, juice etc. The staff was very friendly and accommodating no matter how busy it got there. There is complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the lobby at all hours, a massage spa, outdoor pool and hot tub, movie theater, game hall, mini golf, restaurant and bbq area on site. The place is great! And also one of the only places that does Christmas dinner, and Leavenworth in XMAS is like walking into a north pole snow globe.

This review is for both Aspen Suites and Icicle Inn, as our group rented in both sections of the property. We had 4 adults, 1 teen, and 2 children in our party. Two adults stayed in a 2-bedroom condo at Aspen Suites with the young people, while the parents took a break from it all over in Icicle Inn. There was plenty of room, and we were all quite comfortable.

We chose this resort specifically for the swimming pool that is open in winter time (covered by a bubble). Steamy, but fun! And the jetted bathtub in Aspen Suites was a big hit afterward.

There were plenty of other hotel features to entertain the kiddies - from the video arcade and the train in the restaurant, to simply sledding down the hill conveniently located across the street from the resort.

Everyone loved the incredible buffet breakfast! Yummy and filling before embarking on a long day out in the snow!

We were troublesome guests, but the desk staff were patient and happy to help us solve our problems. When we forgot our lift tickets on the day we went skiing, they very graciously fetched them from our condo and faxed them to Mission Ridge for us! The staff also helped us locate the dog sledding operation we'd booked a tour with, when we failed to bring the printed directions. Thanks, guys!

My only complaint would be that the hotel is a bit expensive, but I guess we were also paying for the location ... even if we didn't care that the local McDonald's looks like a Swiss chalet!

We chose the Icicle Inn because the price was right and it was in Leavenworth, WA. They also offered a complimentary breakfast buffet (waffles, etc) which was GREAT and very convenient. We stayed there during the evenings; we spent the days skiing at nearby Mission Ridge. We are a family of 4 (parents and 2 small kids). We stayed in a room with a king sized bed, microwave, and fridge. The bathroom was very clean, along with microwave and fridge. The hotel staff was friendly (family friendly) and nice. We would recommend this to friends and we would stay there again. We would probably get a room with 2 queen beds next time.

The Best Wester Icicle Inn comes across just as advertised. It's rated 2 diamonds by AAA and I'd say that's about right. The hotel staff were very friendly and happy to serve. The hotel and the rooms were clean and nice. The bed was not the most comfortable, it had a rather significant dip in the middle and lacked for firmness.
The Icicle Inn is a one-stop place great for families. There is an arcade, the only movie theater in town, a pool and hot tub, and an in-house spa. We went during December and they had a crazy inflatable bubble over the outdoor pool. It was fun to swim in and a unique experience to be sure. Breakfast was buffet style and there were long lines (seemed as though everyone wanted to eat at 9am) but it comes included with your room rate and the waffles were great.
I would definitely recommend the Best Western over the HoJo or the Quality Inn. The major reasons for this are location relative to the road (the BW is off set away from the highway while the others run right along the road) and the fact that room entry at the BW is inside through a common hallway while the others have outside entry to rooms. In the winter, I'd much prefer the inside entry we had at the BW. The BW is less than 10 minutes away from downtown and a nice walk for enjoying all that Leavenworth has to offer.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would consider staying again. Make sure to ask for the AAA discount as it will save you 10%.
