We found out about the Run of the River Inn through the book "Weekends for two in the Pacific Northwest, 50 romantic getaways."
We decided this looked like the perfect place to spend our anniversary and booked 5 nights in the Kingfisher suite.
Monty and Karen have created a little bit of heaven on earth at the inn. We loved the ambiance of the Kingfisher suite. From the pillow top king size bed, the super comfy leather couch and chair, the spacious bathroom with heated tile floors and plush bathrobes, the cozy fireplace and jetted soaker tub~both surrounded by river rock, fresh ground coffee and a newspaper every morning, a spacious deck with a swinging chair for two~over looking the river, bird food to feed the many birds, mountain bikes and helmets, plenty of good books to read and sattelite TV for those who want it, all making us feel very pampered.
They serve a fantastic gourmet breakfast every morning and fresh baked goodies every afternoon.
The autumn decorations around the inn and in our room were wonderful. Every day we saw the deer along the river bank and even by our room and the entrance to the inn.
We took the suggestion of biking and hiking and enjoyed a beautiful hike to eightmile lake and biked around the area to Icicle River and the fish hatchery.
We enjoyed visiting the shops and restaurants in Leavenworth, but the best part of the trip was staying at the Run of the River Inn.
My only dissapointment was to look out of our room on the first day and see the river bed nearly dried up. This of course was not the fault of the Inn but of one of the driest summers in decades for the Pacific Northwest. I have to say though, that my dissapointment faded quickly thanks to our whole experience at the Inn. The Icicle River is only a bike ride away and the Wenatchee River runs right through town, behind the village. Be sure and check out the River Park down behind the town. It is a beautiful area to walk around and see the salmon migrating up stream in the fall.
Our stay was absolutely wonderful!
We really look forward to a return trip.
