We found out about the Run of the River Inn through the book "Weekends for two in the Pacific Northwest, 50 romantic getaways."
We decided this looked like the perfect place to spend our anniversary and booked 5 nights in the Kingfisher suite.
Monty and Karen have created a little bit of heaven on earth at the inn. We loved the ambiance of the Kingfisher suite. From the pillow top king size bed, the super comfy leather couch and chair, the spacious bathroom with heated tile floors and plush bathrobes, the cozy fireplace and jetted soaker tub~both surrounded by river rock, fresh ground coffee and a newspaper every morning, a spacious deck with a swinging chair for two~over looking the river, bird food to feed the many birds, mountain bikes and helmets, plenty of good books to read and sattelite TV for those who want it, all making us feel very pampered.
They serve a fantastic gourmet breakfast every morning and fresh baked goodies every afternoon.
The autumn decorations around the inn and in our room were wonderful. Every day we saw the deer along the river bank and even by our room and the entrance to the inn.
We took the suggestion of biking and hiking and enjoyed a beautiful hike to eightmile lake and biked around the area to Icicle River and the fish hatchery.
We enjoyed visiting the shops and restaurants in Leavenworth, but the best part of the trip was staying at the Run of the River Inn.
My only dissapointment was to look out of our room on the first day and see the river bed nearly dried up. This of course was not the fault of the Inn but of one of the driest summers in decades for the Pacific Northwest. I have to say though, that my dissapointment faded quickly thanks to our whole experience at the Inn. The Icicle River is only a bike ride away and the Wenatchee River runs right through town, behind the village. Be sure and check out the River Park down behind the town. It is a beautiful area to walk around and see the salmon migrating up stream in the fall.
Our stay was absolutely wonderful!
We really look forward to a return trip.

Our experience at Run of the River was flawless from start to finish (initial phone reservation to personal follow-up letter thanking us for staying there). The attention to detail and customer service is uncomparable. Although the town of Leavenworth is a bit overdone with the Bavarian theme, but the area is absolutely beautiful. The inn looks over a wildlife preserve, so the setting is relaxing and serene. Monte and Karen are anxious to share this natural beauty with their guests by suggesting hikes, bike rides (with complimentary use of bikes and helmets), etc. that are "off the beaten path". The suites are cozy, thoughtfully designed and immaculate- complete with Jacuzzi, fireplace, deck, and great bathroom with a heated tile floor. Our stay at Run of the River will remain one of the more memorable places that we have stayed during our 25 years of travel in the US and abroad. Monte and Karen are clearly devoted to this endeavor and do a great job of making their guest feel welcome and anxious to return.

“We Relished Ravenwood!”

Run of the River

I've just returned from my second visit to Run of the River. This time was even better than the first, and I didn't think that was possible! They've added a new fabulous log cabin, called Ravenwood. This is the ultimate in luxurious. I have to say I've never seen anything like it!

Hot tubs - not one, but two - one upstairs in the loft (whirlpool tub actually) and another on the deck. We sat and soaked in that cedar tub on a fabulous starry evening. The ultimate in romantic.

They have tons of bells and whistles too. My husband loved playing with the movable "Nanowall" that opens and closes depending upon the privacy you want. When it's open, you get the most fabulous view of the Cascades and the jagged Enchantment Range. They also have this incredible mood lighting panel that let's you program the lighting in every room. Sounds complicated, but it really isn't. Plus the guys like playing with all the buttons.

For a foodie like me the kitchen was a dream - top of the line appliances and fully stocked with everything we needed.

The setting at Run of the River is uncomparable. The innkeepers Monty and Karen are so incredibly great. I almost hate to post this review because I don't want the secret to get out about Ravenwood, but it's such a great "find" I had to share.

We returned to Run of the River after four years away as the result of extensive European travel. It was even better than our previous stays. There are few places that capture both luxury and natural beauty so completely. The accomodations are wonderful and we could easily spend our lives on the deck watching the deer and the many species of birds. Monty and Karen were helpful as always with dinner recomendations and suggestions for hikes and other daily activities. The breakfasts were all excellant. It was the perfect getaway.

My wife and I stayed for three nights in August. We had a room with a wrap-around deck. We sat out and watched the deer and the birds on our swing. There were bikes to use and trail maps so that we could plan hikes. The breakfasts were fantastic, cooked each morning. There was coffee and tea always available. Paper came each morning. We had a lovely welcome basket because it was our anniversary. All in all a very highly recommended place to stay in a really picturesque part of the country.
