Il Granaio is my fav place to have lunch or dinner! The owner, Alberto Candivi is from Italy... very sweet and very hot ; ) The food is always Perfect, and everything is always fresh. I have never had a bad or rude waiter or waitress, everyone is so nice and helpfull... you never have to keep asking for things. The prices are awesome too, you pay for what you get, great food and great service... I will always pay a couple dollars more for that... If you want cheap fake Italian out of a bag and into the microwave for less $, go to Olive Garden... Here you get the real deal with a great atmosphere. Full bar, great wine list, a deck or you can call in for take out if you feel like eating at home and they will have it all ready for you! Great for kids too... they have crayons (ask for them) and you can draw on the paper on the table. I love this place, Cheers to Alberto and all of his helpers!

There was only one couple in the restaurant when I arrived. I ordered the special, spaghetti and meatballs, and chose not to finish. The pasta was overcooked and the meatballs tasted strange; not bad but strange enough that I did not eat them.
I ordered a glass of merlot and never got it. The manager did bring a small glass on the house, just before I asked for the check.
The only saving grace was the bread. But then again, I was hungry...

What a lovely place! I took a young friend there for a nice dinner and that's what we got. Was it the fanciest or most authentic Italian food I've ever had? No - but still, I thought the food was tasty and plenty of it, and I didn't think the price was outrageous. For the same price in Seattle you would get an entree only and no salad or bread. The atmosphere is great. We arrived just around 5pm on a Friday and were shown into a basically empty dining room, and by the time we left the place was full. It wasn't loud or obtrusive, just comfortable. (We'd been deep in conversation and at one point looked around and said, "Where did all these people come from?") Our waitress was awesome! Very on top of everything, no mistakes, didn't forget anything, didn't have to ask us multiple times about details, etc. They had a nice selection of wines by the glass as well as bottles. The restaurant is just off the freeway and I'd seen it from the freeway while going to pick up my friend; it was easy to find going back and had good access. I would go there again.

The seafood tasted really fresh...tho it's really expensive
The bread is not the best I have tried but not really that bad
I had their soup..I think it's some kind of vegetable soup and it's not too heavy so I really liked it

“Not worth it”

The atmosphere is the best thing Il Granaio has going for it. It has the appearance of a sleek, trendy restaurant, but I felt that the food was not up to par with the decor. I had expected some truly spectacular food based on the decor and the menu prices, but I was soon to discover I was sorely mistaken. I have had better Italian food at a chain restaurant. The bread that was brought out was over toasted and was more like giant soup croutons. My entree came with a salad and I selected the "creamy Gorgonzola" dressing. When I tasted it, I could not taste anything that resembled Gorgonzola. It was also very very thin. I ordered the Pollo Piccata, and I got 5 pieces of ULTRA thin chicken. I was given a serrated knife to cut it, but it didn't need it, the chicken was thin enough to be cut with the side of my fork. The taste of the chicken was passable, but it did not come on a bed of angel hair pasta, as I've had it in the past, but a side dish of "the pasta of the day" penne with a creamy tomato sauce. This is not traditional Italian food. If it was, the Italian chef must have gotten hit on the head when he arrived in Mount Vernon. My husband ordered the lasagna and he felt it was runny and he's convinced that it gave him the worst gas he's ever had. (I think I concur on that.) My mother in law had the chicken ravioli, and I think she liked it, but based on my husband's experience and my own, I couldn't in good faith recommend Il Granaio. The food was edible, but not worth the $15-$20 price point.
