What a perfect spot to relax. If a waterfront view through tall Douglas fir trees sounds heavenly, then this is the place for you. We tied a visit to Orcas Island to the end of our Alaskan cruise, and it turned out to be the perfect ending. Owners, Sandy & Carl do all they can to bring the best experiences to you. They are both retired park rangers, and after a healthy breakfast of fresh baked muffins, fruit and coffee, it is off the tour the waterways in a kayak. Even beginners can participate and find it a wonderful way to explore the natural beauty of the island. After an invigorating couple of hours on the water, it's back to the inn for a scrumptious brunch. Next, it the hardest part of your day; and that is to decide just where on the island you want to explore. Artisans abound in funky little shops and we can hardly wait to come back with friends to share this heavenly spot. Thanks to Sandy & Carl and their two laid-back retrievers who are always there to welcome you back to the inn.

The Spring Bay Inn is just one of those places that no matter how much time you spend there, you just don't wanna leave when it's time to go. Everything about the place -- from the incredible hospitality and down to earth nature of hosts Carl and Sandy to the great kayak trips to the super-friendly golden retrievers Rusty and Jennings -- makes it feel like the most welcoming place you could imagine. I could probably write good things about this place till my fingers hurt (great breakfasts/lunch, beautiful and secluded setting, knowledgeable advice on the island, wonderfully appointed house and rooms, etc), but I'll just say that it instantly became one of our favorite places on the globe the second we arrived. We stayed at another B&B on the island for the second half of our trip, and it too was great, but there simply is no comparison. Sandy and Carl have carved out a wonderful place for themselves on Orcas Island and lucky for us, they share it with strangers! Thanks, Carl and Sandy for having us...we'll be back soon!

    • Disliked — (nothing)
    • Tips/Secrets: — You have to open the gate on your way into the property -- no one mentioned this and it was a little strange coming in at night and having to open the gate

Also just returned after visiting for 4 days. We were in the ground level suite with our own hot tub on the deck. I would highly recommend this inn to anyone. If you are a kayaker or would like to try then add another star. Sandy and Karl are great hosts and make you feel very welcome.
The inn, the food, the accomodations all 5 stars.

“Wonderful place to relax”

We just returned from spending a wonderful weekend at the Spring Bay Inn. The inn is decorated in the Northwest style, perfect for its location. Our room had a fabulous view of Spring Bay and was very comfortable and spotless.
Hosts, Carl and Sandy were attentive without being intrusive, full of knowlege of the area and took us kayaking twice.
Coffee was brought to our door in the morning and then we met downstairs to go kayaking at 8:30am (totally optional and included in the price of the room.) When we returned at 10:30am, a declious breakfast was waiting for us.
We haven't even started to explore it's 57 acres, but hope to return soon.
