My wife and I stayed at the Volcano Village Lodge on our honeymoon. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. This quaint, hip Bed and Breakfast is located in the rain forest a quick drive to Volcano National Park. You are surrounded by vegetation and feel secluded. The staff was incredibly attentive to every detail of our stay. When we arrived they had music playing in our room and they showed us all of the great features of the Lodge, including a towel warmer in our bathroom! Breakfast is left in the fridge each night, and includes delicious, local fresh fruit. The showers have great pressure. There is also a hot tub available. At night you can easily drive to one of several restaurants down the road. During the day we drove to the Volcano Park and spent the day hiking. It was wonderful and we completely recommend it. We would definitely stay there again.

“Favorite of Our Honeymoon”

It has taken me a long time to post this review (we took our honeymoon in January 2008), perhaps because I don't know where to begin! We loved our stay at Volcano Village Lodge! We also enjoyed our time on Oahu and Maui, but the highlight of our two week vacation was definitely our stay at VVL. We noted that other reviewers regretted the fact that they only had a short stay at VVL, so we booked 5 nights in the Hale Manaluna suite (at the time it was named Hale Mahina).

At first we were a little nervous that our suite would be louder/have less privacy than the others because it is attached to the main Hale. Not once did we find this to be a problem. The property is small and intimate, the guests are few (only five suites), and Kay are her staff worked like magical elves. We were very pleased with our suite, and after a quick tour of the others (when the other guests had checked out), we decided that Hale Manaluna was indeed our favorite.

Aside from the beauty of VVL, the breakfasts were delicious and we found that we had enough left over to pack a snack/light lunch for our hiking adventures later in the day. They even provided soy milk for my husband since he is lactose intolerant. My parents also worked with Kay to organize a private chef-prepared dinner in our room one night to celebrate. It was a nice romantic touch and the food was wonderful.

We found everything about VVL to be fantastic and truly enjoyed our stay. Not only would we highly recommend it, we definitely plan to visit when we return in the future.

“Wonderful start to our Honeymoon”

My husband and I stayed here for the first four nights of our honeymoon. It was wonderful! If you are looking for relaxation, privacy, and a little seclusion this is the place to stay. Kay was wonderful and even made appointments for us to get in room massages. I would really recommend this! The daily breakfast was wonderful and always more than we could eat. If you are looking for something close to the beach and close to a lot of restaurants or with a lot of amenities this is not the place for you. We drove out to see the lava flow at night and it takes about an hour or so to drive. One note, there is no cable and the internet doesn't work to well so if you want those things you probably shouldn't stay here. We had a wonderful time and would recommend it for people looking for complete relaxation.

“Peaceful, Green, and Higher Prices Than Expected”

This lodge/guest chalets are in a dense rainforest setting and they are certainly well crafted but I have to say we were a bit surprised to spend close to $300 for 2 adults / 1 child ( w/ taxes ) for a night. Despite the pretty woodwork - I couldn't help but think of all the beautiful places in lovely settings that I've stayed in around the world or the country, for that matter, for less - Vancouver Island, all over the Gulf Islands, Big Sur, Cambria, Whidbey Island - .I could go on. Anyway, we had read all the good reviews for it on this site and that's why we made our reservation but I would feel neglectful to fellow travellers if I didn't give a cautionary word about value. You won't be disappointed in cleanliness or well-craftedness but expect a bit of an eyebrow raise on price - especially if you are well travelled at the variety of places there are to stay outside of a larger hotel/ resort setting.

“Wonderfully Nice B&B”

Volcano Village Lodge

This was an excellent B&B located about 1 mile from the entrance to the Volcano park. The facility was very accommodating and the grounds were well maintained. The interior of the bedrooms and bath were spotless. The exterior grounds were well maintained and the food was quite good. The facility was quiet in the evenings.

All the rooms were saw were excellent. The owner was very peasant. We would definitely stay their again.
