“Nice Basic Hotel on Maui”

We were looking for an affordable place in Maui for the week and this hotel was in a good location at a great price. The rooms were very basic, but that was all we needed. We were only at the hotel to shower and sleep. The staff was friendly and very helpful when we had questions. The neighborhood is safe and has several convenience/drug stores, although it is not located on the tourist part of the island, it is not a long drive to Lahaina and front street which we LOVED. Parking was a little inconvenient because there was a side lot and a back lot that were kind of far from our room, but we were able to unload our luggage right in front before we had to park. We enjoyed our stay at the Maui Seaside.

“A Nice Place”

We had no problems at this clean, basic hotel! I felt at first like I had been transported back to the 1950s as far a decor. And, the fact that I had no hair dryer but an HDTV was really funny, too. That said, it was very clean, was safe, and was inexpensive. A friend of mine had booked this place, so I followed suit. We spent most of our days hiking, so it fit the bill for a good place to clean up and sleep at. We've stayed at the best on Ka'anapali, Waikiki and the Kohala Coast on the Big Island, and if that's what you want then you need to go there at four times the rate. But, if you're looking for near the airport, etc. this is fine. I liked that it was central to all parts of the island.

“good for the one night needed”

We arranged to stay here for the one night before moving on to our nicer plans. That being said, it's clean and fine for a night's sleep.

I was not impressed, however, with paid parking. Yes, it was only $4, but the idea was just plain dumb for approx. 20 parking spaces and three driving/security guards to make sure they park correctly. You don't have to park there, of course. You can walk all your luggage down 1/4 a mile over a semi-sidewalk and grass.

The other thing that completely blew me away was that the pool shuts down at SIX in the EVENING! Yes, there is the ocean (with not safe swimming near), but wow!

Would I stay again? Yes....for a clean place and a night's rest. I would never suggest anyone experience Hawaii by spending their trip there.

“Well Worth the Money”

Although you're always warned ... "you get what you pay for" I thought this hotel was great for our purpose. We had a late late night flight, had to check out of our Ka'anapali beach resort early and wanted somewhere to rest, shower and walk the beaches one last time before heading for the frozen tundra.

I have already booked another room for next February when we return to our beloved Island of Maui. Our experience was great, the staff was wonderful and warm.

The bathrooms are a bit small, they could add an extra towel or two for showering, but if that's the worse thing that came out of our experience at this hotel, I'd say it's minor.

P.S. They WILL NOT give you your keys prior to 3:00 p.m., so if you think you can move from your resort @ 11:00 a.m., and make the drive to Kahului and expect to get in your room, you've been warned.

“EWWWWWWWW! Never Again!”

Maui Seaside Hotel

We had an early morning flight so booked here just for the night. Upon entering the parking lot, there were at least 4 people directing traffic to remote areas on the property even before we checked in! We had to leave our luggage in the car which, felt very unsafe. The lighting was horrible and there appeared to be no security. Once we walked what felt like forever, checked in and then began our "trek" to find our room. It was exhausting. Once in the room, we decided it was so unbearable that we did not even sit down before calling it quits and returned to the airport and roll the dice for a standby flight home. When we went to leave, the closest exits had been locked so it was a return to the car via the same way we entered, about a 1/2 mile walk. The building is old, dirty, smelly, moldy and anything else you could think of that describes: rat-hole. That and they charged $4.00 for that absurd parking. The desk personnel was friendly enough but that was all I can say good about the place. Cheap is cheap. This place gives new meaning to "you get what you pay for". Next time we will sleep at the airport.
