This was our first visit to Maui and I'm glad we stayed in Kihei. The Maui Coast Hotel was a nice hotel with clean, spacious rooms. Admittedly, we don't usually spend much time in the hotel but I did get food poisoning and spent a day in the semi-private jacuzzi next to the pool. The staff was very friendly and when I plugged up the sink, someone from the front desk was up to the room w/i minutes (beware of Maui Taco's salad bar). We mainly go Hawaii to snorkel and lay on the beach and this hotel was w/i walking distance to some nice beaches. A major bonus was the free shuttle service the hotel offers (w/i 5 miles or so) and since most people didn't use this service, we felt as if we had our very own driver. Not only were we taken to some wonderful beaches in the area, our driver recommended some hot local restaurants (1/2 price sushi at midnight!). We just gave him a ring on his cell when we were ready to head back to the hotel and were picked up about 10 minutes later. We'll definitely go back to the Maui Coast Hotel.

“Great stay; convenient location”

Booked a room at this hotel by calling directly so I could attend a conference at Wailea (since those hotels were much more expensive). Shared the room with two others. We found the room spacious, large parking lot always had available spaces.

Staff was courteous and helpful. My room mates said the pool & hot tub were fine and at night they were the only ones using it. Some strange scent (possibly from cleaning/housekeeping) was in the room when we 1st checked in, but it resolved when we turned the A/C on & opened the patio door.

Pleasantly surprised by the very quiet min-fridge. It was handy for storing beverages and leftovers. Would have been ice to have a microwave too. The restaurant was pretty basic with reasonable prices and helpful staff.

    • Liked — Spacious rooms and lots of FREE parking in large lot
    • Disliked — Sometimes it was a pretty long walk between the space you could get in the parking lot & your room

“Not Great - Stay Elsewhere”

We read the mixed reviews; and decided to chance it. Bad idea. We, too, found pubic hairs in our bed when we checked in. When we informed the guy at the Front Desk, he called maid service; but when we came back at the end of the day, no bed changes. We checked out the next day, again informing the Front Desk for the reason why. They apologized, but made no other efforts. Spend the extra money and upgrade.

“Edwin is the Best!!!”

Maui Coast Hotel

We stayed at the Maui Coast Hotel during Christmas 2007. It is a very nice hotel with everything we needed except for 1000 island dressing in their restaurant (we like this on our burgers) and a microwave oven in our room. The staff was very professional, knowledgable, accommodating and polite. Edwin (at the front desk) is a very friendly and sweet young man. They even had free internet access in the lobby area, via two different computer terminals, which made it very convenient to keep updated with important personal matters.

The only thing that would have made our stay better would have been for the pool man (at the towel kiosk) to rub suntan lotion on our shoulders and backs ... oh, and the 1000 island dressing and microwave.

This hotel was a little pricey for our budget ($250/day) ... but you have to expect anything on Maui to be pricey. We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay here again!

    • Disliked — The hotel fire alarm going off at 3:30a.m. (false alarm).

“Great Stay”

This hotel was very nice. Clean, yet the rooms are quite a distance from the street and the lobby, as they are built back from the street (not up).

There is free internet in the lobby at standing kiosks, which are limited to time, unless no one is waiting.

The pool area is awesome, and there are individual hot tubs surrounding, which make for a nice night!

The hotel is not in the "main" area of Maui, however the location is good for a nice break from the hustle and bustle, and has good restaraunts within walking distance.

The restaraunt was good, and the staff were very accomodating.

Good place, clean, good service.
