“Pineapple Inn lives up to expectations”

We stayed at the Pineapple Inn in early October and was thoroughly impressed. I have read all the reviews on this site, so I had very high expectations. I must say that not only was I not disappointed, but in sereral ways the Inn was better than I expected. I need to clarify that most negatives that have been mentioned in other reviews were things that would not normally bother me, such as the highway close by that you cannot see from the property. We stayed in the upper level Makena room which has a great view from the Lanai. I cannot say enough about the grounds. It is a paradise with all the tropical fragrances and foilage, not to mention the lovely pool and fountains. The inn is a special hideaway that is close to the Wailea / South Kihei beaches and shopping. Another big plus is having parking practically right outside your door. This intimate setting is not for everyone, but if you desire a private, tropical paradise in South Maui with a spotless, well furnished, comfortable room amid immpecable surroundings this is the place for you!

“Peaceful Setting and Great Hosts”

My husband and I stayed at the Pineapple Inn (Molokini Room) for 5 days at the end of October. We were totally impressed.
The Basics - The location is great - close to restaurants and beaches. Well stocked fridge. Great value for the money.
The WOW factors - gorgeous landscaping, peaceful setting, immaculately clean rooms and grounds, and helpful and friendly hosts (Steve and Mark).
We stayed at the Hyatt in Kaui for the next 5 days, and though we were impressed, the Pineapple Inn made our trip to Hawaii special - somewhere to run away to.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Pineapple Inn in Maui in October. We had never been to Maui before and were surprised by the vastness of the island, travellers definitely need a car to get around. The Inn is in the Kihei/Makena district, so is close to some of the islands best beaches & a very upmarket shopping centre. The inn is set in beautiful gardens & is in pristine condition. The fridge is stocked with goodies for your arrival & a lovely welcome basket. We had the Makena room, upstairs which had ocean & headland views. The ONLY downfall with this property is that it backs onto a highway(which cannot be seen from the property, as the inn is set up on higher ground), but there is a fair bit of traffic noise when the heavy sound-proofed sliding door was open. (so there was minimal noise in the room, when the door was shut)
Overall though a beautiful place to spend a couple of days, whilst visiting Maui.

We stayed at the Pineapple Inn from September 20th - 27th. My husband and I had the Lanai room. My inlaws stayed in the room above us with an ocean view and my brother inlaw stayed in the cottage with his wife and toddler. Pineapple Inn is a beautiful place to stay if you want to feel like you are staying in a home and not a resort. We received an email that our rooms would be open for us and that we could go directly to them when we arrived. I thought that was a little odd but once we arrived I realized there is no "front desk". The owners were on vacation and there was a nice woman that we found staying there and taking care of the place in their absense. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and our rooms were very nice. Our fridge was stocked with bagels, fruit, granola bars, juice, english muffins, oatmeal, chocolates and some other things. That basically covered our breakfast for the week which was nice. The room was very cozy and had a sink, microwave and a few dishes. The tv had many cable channels to choose from but there is no phone in the room. We didn't mind since we have our cell phones. The cottage is very nice for families. My inlaws had a full kitchen, two bedrooms, and a living room. This came in very handy since they have a two year old and we took advantage of their kitchen many times. There is also a gas BBQ on the patio of the cottage as well as one by the pool.
We paid $800 for the week which in my opinion you can't beat in Maui. Yes you do need a car to get anywhere but I think that is true no matter where you stay in Maui. I stayed in Kanaapali on my last trip at a resort and we still needed a car. The Inn is probably about a mile from the beach and only a 5 minutes drive to the beautiful Wailea beach, shops and resorts. The Inn is on a residential street but once you turn into the property it is not just your ordinary home. There is a large main house for the owners and then attached are 4 guest rooms. The cottage is located at the front of the property. There is also a shed with snorkeling gear, sand toys, boogie boards and many other beach items for kids and adults. This can be used by any of the guests and is on the honor system. The grounds, pool and the rooms were extremely clean. The only time I saw the woman taking care of the place was early in the morning as she cleaned up the grounds. She was also good about replenishing our towels. I don't know how she would know when we placed our towels in the hamper outside our room. I walked out of my room 5 minutes after putting the towels in the hamper and found new towels on top of the hamper waiting for me.

The only drawback that I saw (and I why this received 4 and not 5 stars) was not having someone accessible to ask questions at any given time. It would have been nice to speak to someone who lives there and get their take on local places to go. Not a huge deal though since we did have our Maui Revealed book. That gave us all the information we needed on finding little hidden beaches and waterfalls among other things.

Overall I would definitely recommend this place and the next time we are in Maui we won't hesitate to stay at Pineapple Inn again!

“Good Value Inn”

My husband and I stayed at the Pineapple Inn for the first few days of our honeymoon. The grounds were lovely and our room was well maintained. There wasn't an innkeeper available at the time so we were left with two contact numbers in case of an emergency. We did have an emergency situation (due to my carelessness), called the two contact numbers, left messages with both, but didn't hear back from either of them. Thankfully one of the neighbors was kind enough to help us. All in all we had a nice stay at the inn, but it would've been nice if someone was available on-site to help us out.
