“Mahalo Napili Kai for amazing honeymoon!!”

Napili Kai Beach Resort

We just got back from our honeymoon at Napili Kai and we’re in a depression being back here in Ohio! We absolutely loved our stay and words can’t justly express our feelings…but I’ll try.

We checked in April 28th (there until May 5th) and the front desk lady was very gracious. She gave us a bunch of information including a nice congrats note on our marriage (also got a bottle of champagne in the room!). And we got a free Expedia beach bag that was very helpful. Our room was an ocean view, second floor, king bed, studio in the Lani II building. When we got to our room, we knew we were in paradise. The view was amazing! I would definitely request ocean view Lani II if you can. It didn’t have AC but we didn’t need it (and my new husband likes to be cool). The winds were enough. The bath was beautifully done with granite and the sink and closet were separate from the shower and toilet which is nice. The kitchen also was upgraded with granite and new appliances. The main décor was old Hawaiian and was perfect. Comfy bed and pillows. The lanai was awesome - large and includes lounge chairs and regular chairs. And we could hear the ocean waves. That was the best – going to sleep hearing the waves. So miss that!

We loved our breakfasts at the Sea House restaurant. We thought they were reasonable – about $25 for the both of us. They were very filling so we basically ate breakfasts and dinners the whole trip. We never had dinner there at the restaurant – on the go too much. The view from the tables up front is awesome!

The Napili Kai beach is wonderful. While we were there though, there were HUGE waves coming in and they had rip tide and jelly fish warnings so we weren’t able to swim or snorkel (this was the same up and down the Maui coast). By the fourth day, things had calmed down. Unfortunately they were still rough enough to take my husband’s new wedding band. If someone finds it, please let me know! haha. It was great being able to get fresh towels and the beach chairs when you want. Oh and every night when the sun was setting they blew a conch shell and the tiki torches were lit. Very cool.

We only had one problem with loud kids. Our last night, there was a baby next door to us who was screaming all night. And since there is no AC and the rooms are all open, we could hear her. That was kind of a bummer. But it didn’t ruin the stay that’s for sure.

Other things we loved: the beach path, the landscaping, the cleaning crew, pineapple and juice everyday at 10am, the shampoo, conditioner, and bath gel (you can buy these in the cute gift shop BTW), being in a quiet area, the parking (plenty), proximity to Lahaina and other POI, and the pool (great view) and Hankipanki whirlpool. Oh and the cleaning crew helped a lot when we just needed some cokes. They told us where their pop machine was!

Maui was a dream and Napili Kai added to that dream. Now we just have to plan our return trip!! Mahalo for reading :)

“nice resort; a little dishonest about the view”

We booked a "beach-front" view, but we mostly had a view of a big orange and yellow tent (the cabana) and the pool. We were in a 1-bdrm studio, #31, in the Hanoloa building. It appears that the even numbered rooms have a better view than the odd numbers (because of the way the building is staggered). We asked to switch rooms, but they wanted to charge us a room-change fee, so we didn't switch. For the price, I don't think the "beach-front" room was worth it.

However, it was a very clean, nice facility. The room had A/C and was in very good shape. We enjoyed lounging on the beach as well as the hottub. They gave fresh beach towels whenever you wanted them and had nice beach chairs. However, there weren't really any shaded areas. It was great to be able to cook in the room and eat on the lanai. But, the lanai itself was only separated from the neighbors by simple screen (if you booked two adjacent rooms, you could have opened the screen to have one very large lanai, which could be nice), This was a little uncomfortable if you both happened to be out at the same time. It is non-smoking, even on the lanai, which was a huge plus.

I would not recommend the on-site restaurant, The Sea House. We went there for afternoon drinks/snacks. The food was okay, but the drinks were very watered down and the wait staff was incredibly rude and slow. And, of course, everything was very over-priced.

It's definitely a "family" resort -- there were kids running around and screaming everywhere. Definitely not the best for a romantic getaway.

It is a beautiful beach and the resort grounds are really well-kept, but I was very disappointed in paying so much for "the view".

“Best on Maui”

Our stay at this delightful resort was more than we had ever dreamed. I had read some of the reviews on this site, and there had been complaints about bugs. Our stay was absolutely perfect, and I might add, that bugs can sometimes be a bit of a problem in the tropical areas of our world, those who complained must have never traveled in those areas before. We had no problem with bugs whatever ! ! ! This resort, is very low-keyed and truly Hawaiian in every way. EVERYTHING - accomodations, beautifully manicured resort grounds, staff at check in as well as the grounds keepers, housekeepers, were the PERFECT in every way. We were greated with a smile each and every day. The nightly lighting of the Tiki Torches combined with the undescribeable sunsets will be a "Forever" Memory.

“Beautiful, relaxing resort on a phenomenal beach!”

Napili Kai Beach Resort

My husband and I traveled to Maui in March of 2007. We stayed at the Napili Kai for ten days. To sum it up in one word it was phenomenal. The resort is very quaint, quiet, clean and beautifully cared for. Immaculate to be more specific! Our room was very clean, with wicker style furniture (typical for Hawaii) and had a beautiful view. We paid to stay oceanfront as it was our first trip to Maui. The pools were well cared for. No, there wasn't anyone serving us drinks while we relaxed on the beach or at the pool- we actually had to walk to get our own drink- but that was not what we were looking for. We didn't want the high rise hotel, crowded experience of Kaanapali Beach. We like to be removed from the crowds and like peace and quiet. That's exactly what we got at Napili Kai. We watched whales frolick from the pool in front of our unit and saw many fabulous sunsets. The grounds are beautiful with beautiful flowers all over the place. The beach on Napili Bay is one of the most beautiful on the island. Golden sand, swaying palms, blue water, great snorkeling and lots of sea life. What more could you ask for? I think if you are looking to be pampered and treated like a celebrity then you need to pay the bucks to go to Wailea or Kaanapali. If you are looking for true Hawaii then stay at the Napili Kai. I am very, very picky and I had not one complaint about this resort. After all, we were on vacation in Hawaii, what could we possibly complain about? I think people need to keep things in perspective. We loved our stay so much that we plan to return this November and we will definitely stay at our little secret paradise at Napili Kai.
