Our family of 3 stayed here as part of their mini-vacation promotion that they use to get you to attend a timeshare presentation. We ended up buying but we had been considering a timeshare before we stayed here anyways. The presentation was not at all pressuring. That aside, we absolutely loved our stay here. I've read other reviews that complained about birds in the restaurant, long waits for elevators, inadequate beach, etc. We did not have these types of issues. While the elevators in some of the towers are closed for repairs, we never waited too long for the lobby elevators. There were always things to see during our short waits anyways. The beach was fabulous and even though it was spring break week, there was plenty of room to play in the pool or relax at poolside. Our stay included breakfast each morning in the hotel restaurant and it was better than most complimentary breakfasts we have had at other resorts/hotels. Of course there are birds flying around but it is an open air restaurant on the beach! Many of the local places are the same and we never had a bird land on our table. Our little boy loved watching them. Our room was huge, and included a very large master bedroom, gorgeous bathroom and equally spacious living/dining/kitchen area and it was spotless to boot. Daily housekeeping was fabulous and they even ran our dishwasher for our dirty dishes everyday. There is not an oven or stove but the front desk sent me up an electric skillet when I requested it. I had booked a scenic view and they upgraded us upon our arrival to a corner oceanview room. Our little boy loved playing mini-golf on the property and going to the pool and beach. There are also several large exotic talking birds in the lobby that he couldn't wait to visit everyday. The valet staff were always friendly and quick to retrieve our vehicle and their services were included in our package as well. Our rental car was also free in our package through the hotel. Our only complaint was that during our stay, the resort instituted a new policy requiring a $50 deposit for each hotel beach towel. We did get that deposit back once the towels were returned. I understand a deposit since many people were leaving their towels on the beach and taking them off property but I thought $50 was too steep. Some people started using the room towels once they instituted that policy. That aside, the hotel exceeded our expectations and we are looking forward to returning!

The Beach Club rooms and facilities are nice. However- When booking a Ocean View room, keep in mind that the Beach Club's defination of Ocean View room is any room that you can see the ocean from the lanai. That includes a view of the ocean over the top of the roof of the condos next door! I booked 2 Ocean View rooms and one was surpurb and the other had an over the rooftop ocean view.
Also, the front desk staff is totally inept at their jobs. They do not understand that the customer standing in front of them is providing them a job and an income. At every visit to the front desk, I learned not to interupt any conversations between employees (which are always happening) or any of their personel phone calls. If you happen to be rude enough to do so and ask for some service- you will recieve total rudeness in return, so be sure to wait till they are done!

Overall - very nice resort, great beachfront location, the separate bedroom and kitchenette were great for our family, we had a wonderful time and would return again

Room - Beautiful furnishings/finishes, clean, comfortable bed, handy mini kitchen (sink, dishwasher, full sized fridge, microwave), dvd player in room, separate bedroom, sliding doors to lanai have additional locks at adult height (no 2 year olds sneaking out on the 11th floor lanai at nap time), large walk-in shower, large soaking tub, soaps from Bath & Body works

Resort - Beautiful, beachfront, lovely pool, kiddo pool, waterslide, hottub, tiki torches, underground parking, beachfront restauraunts, gardens, waterfalls, koi, guest bbq, exterior and elevators needed repairs, but repairs were in progress, lots of flowers, plenty of room and chairs around the pool

Ocean view means partial ocean view, ocean front means ocean front, and garden/scenic view looks out the back. We had a partial ocean view could see a neighboring island, whales, sailboats, and people playing at the pool. Major contruction in progress next door and to the rear. Didn't bother us as it was interesting to watch and the waterfalls below masked any noise. Couldn't hear or see it from the pool or beach area. Might be a big problem for the rooms toward the back.

Food - breakfast was very pleasant, buffet had a variety of pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, cereals, muffins, juice milk, coffee and made to order omlettes. Not excellent, but pretty good. We ate there several times.

The bar food was not worth ordering. Tried two different sandwiches. The pizza (room service from the bar restauraunt)was the worst pizza i've ever had, looked bad, smelled bad, 2+ inches of plain crust around the edges, burnt cheese. The wait staff was friendly and fast. The simple kids menu for 2$ was great for our 2 year old, plain mac and cheese etc.

Staff - concerted effort to be very pleasant and efficient, from servers to maintenence

“Amazing hotel for the price”

Ka'anapali Beach Club

5 of 5 stars

Stayed here for 5 nights with my husband and 3 kids and can't say you can get a better property for the money. We've been to Hawaii many times and have stayed at several "nicer" properties, (Westin Kaanapali, Sheraton Kaanapali, Hyatt Regency in Kauii, Hilton Waikoloa on the Big Island) but can honestly say, you can't find a better deal than the Kaanapali Beach Club. It's not the Westin, but it's certainly a nice property for an amazing price. The property is dated, but clean and maintained. We constantly saw employees painting railings, dusting stairwells, etc.. However, the blue floor tile and pink paint are dated...if you're expecting new and updated, you'll be disappointed. If you can overlook that, you'll be pleased with a great location and great price.

We booked directly through the hotel (phone number on website) and paid $945 for 5 nights, a rental car, and breakfast. I was a little wary and had low expectations for our room, but was extremely pleased.

Without asking for it, we were put in a 2 bedroom unit. Two twin beds with a bathroom, a king bedroom with a bathroom, as well as a living area with a pull out couch, dining table and kitchen. We didn't have an ocean view, but the space to spread out was worth it with the kids. We stocked up at Costco prior to arrival and were able to eat most meals in. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Again, it's not a 5 star, but it's more than fine if you're looking for a great location at a great price.

At check-in we were invited to obtain our "welcome gift" at the concierge which we knew would be a timeshare pitch. We never contacted the concierge and were never asked to listen to a timeshare presentation.

Another nice surprise was the free breakfast for all five of us. The booking info stated, "free breakfast for two", but upon check-in we were told the breakfast was for all of us. Breakfast was typical buffet food, but served its purpose. The fresh fruit was delicious. Cooked to order omelettes were available if you were willing to wait in a short line. The man cooking omelettes was quite an entertainer! My hubby waited every day and was entertained and delighted by the "happy, joyous man" who "loved life and his job" as my husband put it. A full breakfast for five people was a huge moneysaver!

Yes, the elevators were a pain and the two closest to our room were out of order and we had to wait maybe five minutes for the elevators sometimes. That would be my only complaint... how minor though for spending five nights in a beautiful location for such a great rate. To make up for the slow elevators, the valet always retrieved our car in record time. We waited no more than two minutes for our car and the valets were always smiling, friendly and able to give advice if you asked.

Happy hour nightly from 4:30 to 6:30 was great. Wine for $3.00 a glass and live music at the pool was super. There is a kids' menu with all items for $2.00. Not sure if that's offered all the time or just at happy hour, but what a deal.

Beach views from this property are great. As with most of West Maui you can enjoy views of Lanai and Molakai. The beach was sandy and you could easily get in the water. The red flag was up the entire time we were there...not sure if this is standard practice as a [--] or if the conditions truly warranted it. Many people, including me, went in the water and had no issue. I'm a strong swimmer, but not an idiot. I would not enter the water if it seemed dangerous. Rocks are in the water about 4 - 5 feet out. We didn't snorkel here so I can't comment on that.

There's a small gym overlooking the pool with brand new equipment. Hubby and I were able to work out each morning and watch the kids swimming in the pool. There are maybe 6 cardio machines and eight leg and/or arm machines. Not a lot, but in brand new condition and able to accommodate a basic workout.

Property is very conveniently located to Whaler's Village as well as Honolua Bay (amazing snorkeling!). No more than a ten minute drive in either direction. There's also a Star Market across the street and within walking distance for groceries.

I can't say what a great experience we had at this property. Taking your family to Hawaii is no cheap undertaking and this property makes it affordable and pleasant. I'd highly recommend it for a family or anyone wanting a nice trip, but not expecting a five star property. There seemed to be quite a few families there, so if you're looking to get away from kids, this may not be the place. If you're looking to be pampered, this may not be the place. For those desiring a nice location, nice views, nice staff this is the place. I'd definitely return to the Kaanapali Beach Club.

“Will definitely return here”

My husband and I stayed here at the beginning of November, 2007 for a week. My biggest complaint is that it wasn't long enough. We exchanged one of our time-share weeks with RCI. Tried to get 2 weeks but couldn't.
This resort is fabulous - great location on the beach, wonderful pool with onsite scuba lessons, scuba diving right from the shore, good restaurants, clean and comfortable accommodation, spacious suites, friendly and helpful staff and onsite gift/convenience store.
Only drawback was the price of the parking. A bit steep in our opinion. However it was very secure.
We were invited to an introductory 'breakfast', which we suspected was a time-share presentation, but as we'd never been to Maui before we went to see what was available in the way of tours etc. We had the breakfast and stayed to hear about the tours and shows, booked a couple of things and then left before the presentation started. No-one hassled us to stay when we said we already had a time-share in Mexico. So that was fine.
We'll definitely be returning to this resort. However next time we'll ask for a room overlooking the pool instead of the back alley!! But in Maui even the back alleys are quite beautiful. What a place!!
