Awesome, we had a wonderful stay in 313. Condo was kept clean. Quiet, peaceful and the locals were just great. I will be going back next year. Spectacular views. Wonderful pool and just a delightful stay.

“Our 5th stay at Kahana Reef”

This was our 5th stay at Kahana Reef. Each condo is indiviually owned and we haven't had a bad one yet. Although, some are better than others. The ocean water is so close you can throw a rock into it from the lanai. Most units don't have air conditioning, but we didn't need it. There is a nice coin-op laundry facility on the premises. The condos are within a short driving distance to Lahaina and the best snorkling areas. This is a great place to stay if you are on a budget, but still want an oceanfront view. It is not a luxury resort. The next time we return to Maui we will definitely stay here again.

I also stayed in unit 317 and it was exactly as advertised on the owner's website, [---]. A piece of paradise indeed, with gorgeous sunsets on the lanai, cross breezes through the unit all day long, away from the craziness of some of the other neighboring condos and hotels, this is definitely more of a residential and relaxing sort of complex. Perfect for couples who want privacy or those who just want to get away and stare at the ocean for a little bit.

Great location in northwest Maui, with easy access to beaches up and down west Maui. You can get to all of the touristy spots and still have this oasis to come home to far enough away from it all.

I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else when in Maui.

    • Disliked — Reliable cellphone and wireless service.

“Kahana Reef Unit 317”

Kahana Reef

Returned yesterday from a week's stay at Kahana Reef unit 317. We found this unit through the owner's at vrbo.com. It was exactly as promised. A spacious 1-bedroom unit ony 20 something feet from the ocean. This corner unit was great and a very good value.

The unit itself is in excellent shape with many upgrades (granite counters, rock shower, etc.). The kitchen was extremely well-outfitted. We had planned to eat out once a day, but often didn't because we were enjoying the condo so much.

The complex is about 30 years old, but very well maintained. It is very quiet and the pool (nice and sun-warmed) closes a little early (8 pm). The laundry room is inexpensive compared to the local laundromat) but closes early as well (6:30). There are two very nice gas BBQs available for all and we used it a couple of times.

“Awesome View, But thats the only nice thing”

Kahana Reef

I read reviews so I THOUGHT I knew what to expect, no hairdryers, small parking spaces, no one mentioned the Cock Roach problems. I knew it was an older building, so I expected some things, but we really had an awful time, we were late but check in was no problem, when we got to the unit, the first thing we saw was plastic wrappers and wine corks behind the couch, the carpet looked as if someone left a pet locked inside for days. There was so much dust in the shower vent, it wouldnt vent, the front room curtain was SO filthy it caused an allergic reaction in my daughter, the continious roach spray gave my Mother an Asthma attack, we had to take her Doctors on Call for a nebulizer treatment (she has never had breathing trouble before) $476.00 later she felt better, but stayed far away from the kitchen, we were unable to cook in, the knife set provided was covered in rust as was some of the silverware, the roaches were into all the pots pans plates, we kept the kitchen light on all the time hoping to keep them at bay so we didnt have to use the spray, it was horrible stay, and we couldnt contact anyone, the phone in our room didnt work, and there was never anyone in the office, always remember, you get what you pay for, and this place is CHEAP......The Lanai, aside from the dirty carpeting was wonderful, the view was great, so were the grounds
