“Wonderful!!”

This was our first trip ever to Hawaii. I expected it to be a bit like the southern CA area with the beauty of palm trees and exotic flowers and plants. We were most definitely surprised by Maui's utmost beauty. We spent 11 marvelous days.

We stayed in the ocean front condos in a corner unit and it was gorgeous! Our condo was very homey and nice. The kitchen was clean with modern appliances and it faced the ocean when preparing food on the counter.

The living room was comfortable with a nice tv, sofa and big round dining room table. We put together a jigsaw puzzle on the table and enjoyed evenings in that living room. The decor was tropical with wicker furniture and artificial orchids (which looked real).

Our bedroom was nice and roomy with a big closet and dresser to keep our things in and also a safe in the closet. There was always a tradewind blowing through our room at night to keep things cool and although the days would get warm (about 82*), we never needed to use the airconditioner because of the breeze.

The bathroom was very large and clean. The tub/shower was small, but we only took showers so that didn't bother us. The towels were nice and thick and soft.

Some of our best memories will be sitting out on the lanai and watching the whales swim within a hundred yards offshore. They were breeching and showing us their beautiful tails. The sunsets were incredible and we took pictures every night of those. Also...the rainbows. We saw more rainbows in our 11 day stay than we have ever seen in our whole lives before. What memories!

We had wonderful time and loved it there. We didn't ever want to leave!!!

We had a wonderful 12 day stay at the Papakea. The condo was comfortable and clean. We had an awesome ocean view. We have recommended the Papakea to several friends and we look forward to another trip to Maui and another stay at the Papakea.

The room we stayed in was only feet from the crashing waves, with only grass between our door and the water. The room itself was fine. The furniture and decor were nothing to write home about, but the point of this place is the view. The grounds of the Papakea are nice. The BBQ's that are available for anyone to grill on were nice, and helped save a bit of money. I'd stay there again.

“A-202 VRBO - Poor Accomodations”

ResortQuest at Papakea Resort

That view is terrific. The unit itself overall is not worth the money. The chairs in the living room are not good for the back if you sit in them very long. The one foot stool is torn and dirty. The pull-out bed is too thin and coily - our son couldn't sleep on it - he choose the couch instead for 12 nights which was not the best for a 16 year old that just fit between the arms head to toe. The tub spout needs the diverter replaced - not all of the water would go to the shower head and the head is really too low - even for me and I'm only 5'3. My son and husband could not stand under the head due to it being so low. The bathroom is very dated and the mirror is chipped and old. The sheets wouldn't stay on the bed and the pad kept bunching up with the sheets since it wasn't a fitted pad. Could use some quality bed sheets that have a full fitted bottom not just the corners. The bedroom is on the side of the pool and stairwell which was extremley noisy since all the lanai's from the other buildings face it and there is no way to shut out the noise and parties. The washing machine sounds like it has jet engines when it spins and is very, very loud. The tile on the floor is not a quality tile - they need to be sealed to keep the orange ceramic from seeping out and staining your feet/socks. The ceiling fan in the bedroom kept making noise so we couldn't use it while sleeping and the fan in the living room would not go faster than a crawl even with the control set to high. There is AC but only in the living room, I'd hate to feel that summer heat in the bedroom or freeze the person in the living room trying to get the air into the bedroom. There is no warmth to the unit - everything is painted white, very stark and uninviting. The entry doors to the unit face each other and you hear every slam the other occupants make with their door - our neighbors had about 6 kids which of course they all loved to slam that door and yell in the hall. The pools and hot tubs where pretty nice and the putting greens where nice to have. There really isn't much of anything else the Papakea has to offer that is outstanding but the location is really nice. Although it did rain more right there than anywhere else we were during our stay - not that big of a deal though.
But boy is that view terrific.

“Nice”

ResortQuest at Papakea Resort

Our stay at the Papakea was very nice. I would rate the surrounding property as excellent. It is spacious, neat and peaceful. Condo: We had a 4th floor ocean front unit - it was pretty, but needed a lot of TLC. The fridge didn't work and was finally replaced on our 6th day. The sleeper sofa was about 5 years past "worn out" and couldn't be used as a pull out. The toaster didn't function properly, the knobs on the washer and dryer were so worn that I couldn't read them. Our cleaning person was so-so until the weekend when Leon had our room and he was great. I would def. return to the Papakea....it was adequate for our needs.
