One word: cockroaches!!!!
As soon as we checked in and got to the door we found a notice about "regular pest cleaning". The notice said that if guests had a baby they could be exempted from the procedure but then all roaches would move to that condo. We had a toddler, and asked to be exempted since he would put everything he sees in the mouth. The reason we stayed was that we thought if they did this procedure on regular basis then the pest problem could not be that bad. We were wrong! Every time I turned on lights in the bathroom or kitchen I've noticed little "crawlers".
The condo was very old, kitchen was awful and empty. We had to buy everything starting from dishwasher liquid and detergent, and finishing with salt, sugar, oil, e.t.c. Well, all was for nothing, after cockroach encounter I just did not want to cook at that place. We tried to be out as much as possible. The sofa bad we slept on had a plastic wrapper on it, and a fitted sheet on top. We finally took it off on the third day of stay. Changing resorts was not an option since it would be very expensive for us.
One positive thing - a cleaning lady. She was extremely nice and did her job beautifully.
The place next to Papakea - Ka'anapali Shores seemed to be much more neat and upscale, and was selling for the same price at Expedia.
