“Great Ocean View at the Mahana!”

There is not many negative things I can say about the Mahana. I booked the room through ResortQuest with the requests of a newly renovated room on a higher floor. They did not exactly fulfill the request however I was very pleased with the room still. I would definitely stay there in the future and judging from reviews I will book through a private owner so I know what I am getting.

I stayed in Unit #602 which although sat at the top of where the palm trees were still had a beautiful ocean view. I was able to catch a view of sea turtles in shallow waters and whales in the distance several times. This was a studio room which is more then enough for 2 people having a kitchen and a washer/dryer in the unit. The room was nicely decorated although did have some peeling wallpaper and some minor blemishes.

My only real complaint is that I was not able to connect to the wireless internet inside the room. After asking the front desk about this I was told the best access points were on the balcony or in the lobby. The wireless signal was slightly better on the balcony which was good enough for me. I am not sure if all units have the same problem but if you are in need of solid wireless internet access than Mahana might not be the best choice.

The only thing i would do differently in the future is book a room from a private owner instead of ResortQuest. Other than that everything was very good. I would highly recommend the Mahana and stay there again because no matter what you will get an ocean view room and that is a major plus in my book.

“LOVE THE MAHANA”

This was our second time we stayed at the Mahana and I have to say we are going back in 2009. In 2007 and 2009 we booked through a private owner. This year we were there from March 22nd to April 2nd and stayed in Unit 815. It was wonderful. This is a 1 bedroom 2 bath condo. The Owners have kept this unit up very well. Very well supplied with all the essentials you should need or want while there. Snorkeling equipment, extra sheets, blankets, laundry detergent, etc. The kitchen had a full variety of spices, salt, pepper, paper towels, coffee, creamer, tea, even water and diet coke in the refrigerator when we arrived. Very clean, nice decor, and the view was unbelievable. We enjoyed sitting on the lanai watching the whales, sunsets, and just simply listening to the tide. The new whirlpool hot tub down in the pool area is awesome. They did a wonderful job. We had great weather. Our girls aged 13 and 14 had a wonderful time as well. Try the Atlantis Submarine, we enjoyed that very much as well as the surfing lessons in Lahaina. We did alot of snorkeling each day just South of the Mahana and it was great. We seen lots of creatures, fish etc. Down by Black Rock is one of the best places to snorkel. We also went out to Molokini and Turtle town on the Mahana Nai'a. What a wonderful Captain and crew work on this boat. We fished on the way out there and caught an Ono. We stopped and watched whales - they were very laid back and really showed us a good time. Will definintely do that again in 2009. The fish market just a little North of Mahana had a very good selection of fresh fish. We went there a few times and cooked out on the grills at the Mahana. I hear they are going to be putting in more grills back by the pool area again which will help. Alot of people like cooking out on the grills and it's a good time to meet alot of new people staying at the Mahana and their adventures on the Island. I miss the Mahana and cannot wait until we return next year. We have made the Mahana our annual vacation location. I also have to give a great applause to the Coffee Cart located by the pool. We enjoyed an Americano each morning and simply loved it. Good snacks too. We like the quite atmosphere the Mahana has to offer at night. We went down to the other big hotels by Leilani's and Whaler's Village but were happy to return to the Mahana. Just too busy for us at those other properties. I have stayed once at the Kaanapali Ali' - it was nice but just way too many people ALL THE TIME. We found the earlier in March you go the more Whales you will see. I give the Mahana a A+ - they have really done a good job keeping up with the grounds. See you April 2009. I would tell you about the Condo we were in back in 2007 - but it's so georgeous, we are finding it harder and harder to book with this owner. We will be in it in 2009. I missed out getting it for 2008 by a day. Mahalo everyone and hang loose.

It was wonderful. Having the option to cook saved $$$. Great place to stay and see the island. Go to the Sheraton/Black Rock for great snorkeling...too rough for us in front of the Mahana...but we still loved it!

“Lovely, but WINDY!”

ResortQuest Mahana at Kaanapali

Mar 31, 2008

We stayed here for a week over spring break. We booked through vrbo for a privately owned-condo and we got everything we expected. The view was spectacular and our condo was updated with granite and a great shower too! The folks checking us in were pleasant, but not overly so. The pool had been redone and there was a large wonderful hot tub. We went to the pool a few times, but then the WIND kicked up, and we couldn't stay down there. It was actually humorous - the pool towel just blew across the ground. We asked around, and evidently it is very windy at times of the year.

That meant that the beach near us was also too windy. Therefore, we just went south to Kihei one day and near Whaler Village on another, and were fine.

There were cranes in front of the condo for a new condo being built. We couldn't hear the noise inside - good soundproofing.

The last time we were in Maui was during the summer and we didn't experience wind like this. Also, the traffic near Lahaina has increased and it crawls for about 20 minutes. There is a lot of construction and you see construction cones and those road barriers all over the place. It's easy to overlook it, however, when you are in Maui!

We liked the location being near Kaanapali and Lahaina for meals. We also went north to Napali for dinner at the Sea House, which I heartily recommend for atmosphere and great food.

We rode the Kaanapali zipline which was accessible from the golf shop just down the street. Great fun!

“Loved Our Room at the Mahana”

This is my second review that I tried to post, hopefully it will be posted this time. We stayed at the Mahana from March 1 to March 5. We booked a one bedroom condo, and when we arrived we were given a studio condo. We called our travel agent and she was told that they overbooked the rooms so they downgraded us to a Studio thinking that we would not notice. We were moved to condo 1015. This condo was absolutely maginificant. The view was wonderful. I could not say enough about this condo. I just want people to beware of the room that you are getting. We never got an apology from the front desk. That was very disappointing. If we ever get back to Maui, I would definately stay in condo 1015.
