This was our second time we stayed at the Mahana and I have to say we are going back in 2009. In 2007 and 2009 we booked through a private owner. This year we were there from March 22nd to April 2nd and stayed in Unit 815. It was wonderful. This is a 1 bedroom 2 bath condo. The Owners have kept this unit up very well. Very well supplied with all the essentials you should need or want while there. Snorkeling equipment, extra sheets, blankets, laundry detergent, etc. The kitchen had a full variety of spices, salt, pepper, paper towels, coffee, creamer, tea, even water and diet coke in the refrigerator when we arrived. Very clean, nice decor, and the view was unbelievable. We enjoyed sitting on the lanai watching the whales, sunsets, and just simply listening to the tide. The new whirlpool hot tub down in the pool area is awesome. They did a wonderful job. We had great weather. Our girls aged 13 and 14 had a wonderful time as well. Try the Atlantis Submarine, we enjoyed that very much as well as the surfing lessons in Lahaina. We did alot of snorkeling each day just South of the Mahana and it was great. We seen lots of creatures, fish etc. Down by Black Rock is one of the best places to snorkel. We also went out to Molokini and Turtle town on the Mahana Nai'a. What a wonderful Captain and crew work on this boat. We fished on the way out there and caught an Ono. We stopped and watched whales - they were very laid back and really showed us a good time. Will definintely do that again in 2009. The fish market just a little North of Mahana had a very good selection of fresh fish. We went there a few times and cooked out on the grills at the Mahana. I hear they are going to be putting in more grills back by the pool area again which will help. Alot of people like cooking out on the grills and it's a good time to meet alot of new people staying at the Mahana and their adventures on the Island. I miss the Mahana and cannot wait until we return next year. We have made the Mahana our annual vacation location. I also have to give a great applause to the Coffee Cart located by the pool. We enjoyed an Americano each morning and simply loved it. Good snacks too. We like the quite atmosphere the Mahana has to offer at night. We went down to the other big hotels by Leilani's and Whaler's Village but were happy to return to the Mahana. Just too busy for us at those other properties. I have stayed once at the Kaanapali Ali' - it was nice but just way too many people ALL THE TIME. We found the earlier in March you go the more Whales you will see. I give the Mahana a A+ - they have really done a good job keeping up with the grounds. See you April 2009. I would tell you about the Condo we were in back in 2007 - but it's so georgeous, we are finding it harder and harder to book with this owner. We will be in it in 2009. I missed out getting it for 2008 by a day. Mahalo everyone and hang loose.
