“Relax and Refresh at Napili Point Resort”

On this our 5th visit to Maui in a time frame of over 20 years, my husband and I were looking for accomodations that would fufill the desire to relax and also offer convenient ammenities. We certainly found it in Unit B25 at Napili Point Resort.

The location of the resort was perfect and the unit provided a beautiful view of the bay, the turtles, an occasional rainbow and of course beautiful sunsets! The unit has been renovated with new kitchen cabinets and tiled bathroom, no air conditioning but it was NOT missed, just keep the windows open and the ceiling fans on and enjoy the fresh Hawaiian air. The furnishings were comfortable. I was at first a little disappointed that the color scheme was a bit drab (beige, beige, beige with some orange) not very bright in Hawaiian colors. However, the beautiful views totally removed my initial disappointment with the decor.

The grounds of the property are very well kept and the pool areas were clean and nice. A small issue I created by not properly operating the safe was handled within minutes by the maintenance personnel.

The rocky shore in front of the resort allows for a tranquil setting without foot traffic as found with some beach front locations. The short walk to the beach along the rocks can be tricky but the beach access road is close by. We did take the car to the access road to transport our beach chairs (provided by the condo owners) and other beach things. Parking can be very limited along the small road. The beautiful beach cove area is great for snorkeling and was never very crowded. We spent some time looking at a few hotels in Kaanapali and Wailea where we had stayed in the past and found them very busy and the beach and pool areas over run with tourists. We were so pleased that we had decided to stay at Napili Point.

The nearby Gazebo Restaurant has good food for breakfast and lunch with usually a waiting line. But very worth the wait for the food and atmosphere on the water. We also enjoyed dinner at the Sea House Restaurant located down the beach at the Napili Kai Beach Resort. The nearby Napili Market is convenient for groceries etc.
.
I would rate this a 4 star property. If you are looking for peaceful, clean, comfortable and relaxing this is the place. If you are used to more upscale accomodations with fancy ammenities and lots of activity then you should stay elsewhere.

Back home in Georgia what we miss the most is the beautiful sunsets with cocktails on our lani in this beautiful paradise that for a short ten days we were able to call "home". WE WILL RETURN!

I think we got the best unit at Napili Point. It wasn't cheap and run down. It was roomy and clean. We snorkeled in the bay right in front with sea turtles and watched the sunset over Lanai. We had the ocean front so we had a nice front yard and we sat outside everyday. The only downfall is that is is far from the airport, major shopping and harbor (if you are planning to go on a boat trip) so you really had to consider travel time. Especially during rush hour. There were two truck accidents in the one week we were there and it took us a long time coming back from the Kihei side up to Napili. But we also like the secludedness of Napili better than the busy and too touristy Kaanapali area. Closer to Lahaina, dining at the Hula Grill was great.

Our family stayed in Unit C-7 for 4 nights and we were delighted. This is a two bedroom unit, consisting of a decent sized living room/eating area, appropriately sized kitchen, master bedroom and a second bedroom which is a loft over the living area, and two bathrooms. The view is phenominal -- I just oozed happiness sitting on the lanai! The apartment itself is up a set of stairs, which may be a problem if you have strollers or other impediments. There is no air conditioning but cross ventilaion and fans worked well and we were comfortable. The grounds were very well maintained, with grassy areas and nice landscaping. Lovely swimming pool -- actually I believe there are 2 pools but we only saw one). To the left of the complex is a good snorkeling cove with many turtles and there is a good beach to the right -- both within walking distance. We really enjoyed our stay here and would return in a heartbeat! Two thumbs up!

“Beautiful family vacation spot”

We just spent 9 days in a 2br condo at Napili Point. I hesitate to write a great review because I don't want the secret to get out -- but this is a great spot to be if you are looking for a beautiful but more low-key location. We loved our condo (29B) which was beautifully decorated and in perfect condition. There were beach chairs, noodles and (broken) boogie boards in the closet. The staff at the front desk was very helpful and the grounds were immaculate.

We are beach people, and spent half the time at the Napili Bay and the other half at Fleming Beach where there are great waves this time of year. Our kids snorkeled with the turtles and everywhere else. In fact, the snorkeling was so beautiful out our back door that we actually canceled our reservations to Molikini!

We did end up driving a bit, but it was not a problem since parking is easy virtually everywhere we went. We went to dinner in Kaanapali three times, and I didn't think it was nearly a beautiful as where we were. But if you like crowded beaches and packed restaurants then by all means stay there. If you are looking for a family-friendly and romantic atmosphere with smaller condos, a beautiful sandy beach on one side, a secluded bay with turtles on the other side, and no high-rise hotels then Napili is terrific!

“Nice property/terrible privately owned unit”

My family and I stayed at Napili Point for the second time, this time in unit A-25, reserved privately through VRBO. While there are many positives (proximity to a fantastic beach, view of the bay, saw 8 turtles one day!, quiet pools, nice landscaping, bbq's and picnic tables scattered about, generally beautiful area of Maui) we had the unfortunate luck to rent a unit that was very uncomfortable due to no air circulation. The way this particular unit was situated, there are only windows/slider on one side, therefore no cross breeze could be found. A large hedge was also in front of the unit thus blocking the breeze even more. You really couldn't use the oven or the washer and dryer because of the heat already inside the unit. We actually had to check out and find another place to stay and just bite the bullet on paying for two places. The owner was unresponsive regarding the situation.

My advice is this - Napili Point is a wonderful place to stay but you have to be careful about which unit you rent and where it is situated. I would rent through the management office next time rather than a private party because if there is a problem, at least they are on site and can move you to another unit.

Management Response
RandyR, Owner Unit A-25
(Management representative)
Feb 28, 2008
As the owners of Unit A-25 we appreciate the opportunity to comment on reviews. As it is part of our livelihood, we take pride in our property and great concern when a guest has a problem. We are at the unit
2-4 times a year maintaining and upgrading the property. In the last three years everything has been replaced at least once. It goes without saying linens and other consumables get replaced regularly, but we replace appliances, furnishings, and finishes constantly. We do this to provide the best experience we can for our guests. The A/C unit typically gets replaced annually as they seem to be left on by all guests 24 hrs a day. The HOA charges additional fees for the privilege of having A/C, while we still provide the lowest rates of any unit in the resort. We are one of the few units in the resort that have any A/C, one of 13, I believe, in a 115 unit resort. Of all these units, approximately 1/3 have the exact same configuration, room layout and orientation. No units in this resort or in any of the nearby complexes have central A/C, typically again there is none at all.

The reality is that in July and August in the islands it can be very
hot at times. If you want to be on the Lahaina side of Maui and face the ocean then you are going to have a West facing unit. Simple curtain
management to control the heat gain in the afternoon would have made big difference. We never attempt to portray the A/C other than what it is, a wall unit in the bedroom. If doors are kept closed it will keep the unit comfortable during the day and most important to a lot of people, allow for a good nights sleep.
With regard to compensation, we are not a hotel, but try to do as much
as we can. We have had only one other serious complaint in the time we
have rented this unit. These people were refunded and we immediately
flew to Maui to access the issues, as we were concerned about what we
heard. Yes, we really did. In this most recent case, we were informed of the issue after the guest had changed places. In the end, we still
cannot control the weather.

We offer an upgraded, well maintained unit at a quality property at the
lowest price of any unit in the resort. Never-the-less, we are sorry
for the fact that one of our guests was uncomfortably hot in the tropics in the middle of summer.
