“Love, Love, Loved the Royal Lahaina!!”

My husband and I recently stayed 5 nights at the Royal Lahaina Resort. We were very surprised how beautiful it was! We are Marriott members, so we were a little nervous about staying at an "unknown" place. We were so wrong!! This place is gorgeous. Yes, the lobby is a little dated and the grounds are dated, but who cares - who spends all their time in the lobby anyway?!? The rooms in the tower are spectacular, clean and well decorated. We had an ocean front room and our view was fantastic. The 2 pools are nice, never really busy and can always find a spot to sit. The beach is beautiful! The resort staffers are very friendly and accomidating. From the Royal Lahanina, you can walk to Whalers Village and it is a short drive/cab ride/shuttle ride to Lahaina. Excellent resort for the price! We are already talking about our return vacation.

“Wonderful stay at Royal Lahaina”

We have recently returned from a wonderful 5 day stay at the Royal Lahaina.

The room was well appointed with beautiful decor and the bed was very comfortable. The beach is magnificant. We had the buffet breakfast and car as part of our package. We enjoyed a lovely and good breakfast buffet while overlooking the ocean. The staff were very friendly. We felt that the restaurant could have opened earlier to accommodate people who were attending early excursions. We took the opportunity to book excursions on site at the Expedia desk and found staff to be very helpful when booking activities. Parking was a somewhat tricky as the parking spaces are extremely small. Overall we were pleased with our accomodations, the location and the cleanliness of the resort.

“This was a very unexpected find!”

Royal Lahaina Resort

5 of 5 stars
Seattle, WA

We booked our stay at the Royal Lahaina before we had read the TripAdvisor reviews here, and then we were very concerned about getting stuck in a cottage or being forced to pay more than we could afford to upgrade. None of that happened! We stayed here 6 nights (April into May) and had a lovely room, a great view from our little lanai and experienced excellent service.

This is not a "hot spot" for night life nor a superior snorkeling beach. It is, however, a lovely nostalgic visit to what the 60's architecture brought to Hawaiian resorts, with today's amenities and comforts. The beach is great for casual swimming and sunbathing. There is a bar at one of the pools if that's your thing. The restaurant and bar are open and airy and the ambience is quiet and restful with lovely ocean views.

We had an evening bar meal once and ate the breakfast buffet twice and all 3 meals were quite good, worth the price, and we experienced good service.

Be advised - the resort is among several clustered on Kaanapali Beach, and is not in Lahaina proper; but this is a superior beach, walkable and worth your attention.

“new rooms; old property”

the hotel rooms were nice but the hotel property-lobby, elevators, grounds were just old. we expected a resort like atmosphere- what we found were grounds in dire need of landscaping- more motel than resort.

“Wnderful Resort and staff”

We have been vacationing at the Royal Lahaina Resort for the past 14 years and probably logged in over 150 days. The newly remodeled rooms are wonderful. The resort staff has always made an effort to make sure we were satisfied with our accomodations. This year (2007) the manager found out we had a personal tragedy and suprised us with an upgraded suite. We stayed 10 days and felt like royalty. The kindness we were shown was heartfelt and will always be remembered. The morning breakfast buffet is always a treat. We have seen the resort go through various changes in the last 14 years and it just keeps getting better. All we can say is if you want to spend a wonderful vacation on the island of Maui, kick back, and leave your troubles at home, then the Royal Lahaina Resort is the place to be.

This year we were going to miss our trip but couldn't bear to. It wouldn't be summer without our pilgramige to the Royal Lahaina. So we made the necessary changes and are going back on May 30, 2008, for 7 nights, we can not wait.

The best review one can give is to return. We have done so for 15 years.
