We stayed at the Tuscan Inn for 4 nights. The room was just the right size for 2 people and 2 suitcases (how big do you need it?), and the king size bed was spacious and comfortable. Our room was at the back of the hotel which meant we got no street noise. Cafe Pescatore next door was good for breakfast, and the wharf is only 5 mins walk with loads of places to eat. We got snacks from Safeway opposite the hotel opposite to the right, and the cable car stop was one street behind the hotel to the left. One thing you must do when at the wharf is have a clam chowder in a bread bowl, the best one we found was at the aptly named Chowders on pier 39 next to the wipeout cafe. It was delicious!
Back to the hotel, we didn't go to the wine evenings but they were always busy so it must be good. As we probably won't be going back to San Francisco ( As much as we loved it, it's rather a long way) we won't be staying here again, but would definately recommend it to anyone else.
