Business serviceThe hotel is beautiful inside and out, immaculate and upscale! Ate at one restaurant on premise and found it to be delicious! There are a few bars on the property that were even busy on a Sun night. I hear that on the Fri and Sat it is really jumping! The room was huge and had just about everything you could want from a suite! Found the valet staff very friendly and professional as well as the man who checked us in....Calvin........very professioanl and polite! Top shelf place!

ServiceThe Liberty Hotel is a renovated jail- surprisingly, it was in use until relatively recently (70s-80s) before it was shut down (in the 90s?). Mass Gen Hospital next door bought it and it has been renovated into a hip, happening place to stay. The atrium is pretty cool to gawk at- there's a bar at which to have a drink, during which time you can gawk some more. Clink, the restaurant, has tables behind bars, literally. I can't comment on the food since I didn't eat there but the menu looked good.
I had a corner room in the Jail Tower- there is one other tower which my friend told me has similar accomodations. My room was on the corner, overlooking the hotel entrance. Nicely appointed and comfortable. I did not like the ventilation system which was very noisy (and I'm a pretty deep sleeper). I also did not like the soundproofing: because the walls are exposed brick, sounds reverberate throughout the halls- I could hear every conversation in the hallway while sitting in my room.
The location is fine, next door to MGH and across the street from the T- we went to Fenway and it was a very easy 15 min trip on the T. The hotel overlooks the Charles River, at the base of Bunker Hill.
The business center is joke. To print out my boarding pass would have cost $7. You're better off asking the concierge nicely- he can save you $7. Wireless access is NOT free, which irritates me to no end.
Front desk staff and concierge were friendly and helpful. The rooms are nicely appointed separate showers and tubs. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. TV is a little annoying since it is on a satellite, hence changing channels is slow and cumbersome.
All in all, a very nice, comfortable, hip hotel. I would definitely come back for a weekend with the wife, especially if I could get a room rate under $300.

Service
Business serviceMy husband and I stayed 2 nights in this hotel. The location is great; just a few steps to the subway stop, the Beacon Hill shops and restaurants, and Boston Common.
The staff was polite and helpful; the concierge gave me several good recommendations for dinner.
They give you a glass of champagne when you check in and if you ever get a craving for an apple during your stay, you can grab one in the lobby as well.
The building itself was very interesting (the hotel used to be a jail) and the lobby was very pretty and a good place to just hang out with a drink.
Our room was spotless, and the bed was so comfortable! I loved the bath products and big fluffy bath towels. They even give you slippers.
In the evenings, sometime between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. the housekeeping staff brings a coffee pot with coffee and tea that you can make, turns down the bed, and puts turns on the TV with soothing nature images. They also leave the lights on. I thought this was a nice touch, but kind of unnecessary and wasteful. I found it to be at odds with their conservation policy of asking us to reuse towels and only changing bed linens every 3 days.
The drinks at the bar were way too expensive. Nothing below $13. A sip of wine (about the amount you would get at a winery during a tasting) was around $7 and a full glass was about $14 and up!!

ServiceWe actually had a really nice stay here. We loved the architecture in the Old Jail part of the hotel, and we decided to stay in a room in this section for this reason. The exposed brick wall was a nice effect, we had a large floor to ceiling window overlooking the Charles River and Beacon Hill, the bathroom was really nice, and the bed was so comfortable. However, if you stay on a Thursday through Saturday night, the lobby rotunda becomes a very loud nightclub, and the noise was heard loudly in our room until about 2 am. Luckily we had gone to a show and then stopped for a drink so we didn't get back to the room until 12 or so, so we only had to suffer for 2 hours. Next time I would stay in the tower section. You would not hear any of the noise from there.
