“Loved the Bedding!”

San Diego Marriott Del Mar

Apr 16, 2008

Why do we stay at a hotel... mostly to sleep. I have to say, this was one of the most comfortable beds I have slept on. It rates right up there with Westin's Heavenly bed.

Room was nice and clean. Furnishings looked almost brand new. Front desk staff was pleasant and friendly. Everyone was professional but not snobby.

One of the better hotels in greater San Diego.

“Not worth the money”

San Diego Marriott Del Mar

I recently stayed for just one night at this property with my three small boys. We were spending a week in Carlsbad in a condo but we couldn't check into our condo until the next night, so we spent one night here before moving on. I got a little turned around on the way there and called for directions. The girl who answered the phone at their front desk was RUDE and unhelpful. I was fortunate to also have the same girl check us in... again, rude and looked at my offspring like they were contagious. I did let them totally raid her candy jar after that. I was shocked at what they charge for parking ($16 & $22 for valet), I've stayed in nice resorts and I felt that they were trying to be a four star hotel but missed the mark, however they were charging four star prices. The pool area was nice and truly the highlight of the stay. The valet gave us great directions to the town center for dinner which was great as well. We ordered room service in the morning and the food was sub par but the service was great. I wouldn't reccomend this hotel if you are traveling with your kids. The hotel is in a weird place, somewhat industrial. There are way too many great places around to waste your time or money on this Marriott in Del Mar.

“Had a great time!”

San Diego Marriott Del Mar

Mar 24, 2008

Stayed here on a whim while spending a weekend in Del Mar. Rooms were great. People were very friendly and helpful. The outdoor patio and sushi bar was amazing. Friday night they had dj out there and the atmosphere was awesome! Would totally stay there again. I stay at Marriotts very frequently and was very pleased with this one. Will stay here again!!

“Overall a Satisfactory Stay”

San Diego Marriott Del Mar

4 of 5 stars
Warwick, Rhode Island
Mar 4, 2008

Stayed at the Mariott Del Mar for three nights while in town for sightseeing and visiting family. Found it to be very nice for the price I paid (booked through the Mariott website). A little off the beaten path for tourist activities and mostly geared to business travel, but a very well maintaied property, attentive staff and very comfy beds (especially the comforters).

Only problem was a forgotten room service coffee order one morning.

“Love the location”

San Diego Marriott Del Mar

4 of 5 stars
San Francisco, California
Feb 18, 2008

We stayed at the Del Mar Marriott for $87 per night on Priceline. I really disagree with the two-star rating that Trip Advisor is giving this hotel - it is at least a three-star hotel. It is much nicer than a Holiday Inn or similar hotel. This is the second time we have stayed here. This time, it was much busier than the last time. There were a lot of group events going on so the bar and restaurant were constantly crowded. That is a sign of the success of the hotel, of course. The restaurant, Arterra, seems to be extremely popular with more than just hotel guests. As far as the rooms are concerned, everything was fine - comfortable bed, rooms cleaned on time, nice amenities in the bathroom.

One thing I really like about this hotel is the location. Although it seems unexciting - it is basically in the middle of a business park so is not a good choice if you don't have a car - it is only about a 15-20 minute drive to downtown San Diego and 10-15 minutes' drive to Del Mar, La Jolla and Solana Beach so you have the option to go in either direction for dinner, beach or entertainment. It is also a lot less crowded and much mellower than staying downtown. I definitely prefer staying close to Del Mar when in San Diego, and I am hoping I get this hotel again next time I Priceline a hotel in San Diego.
