“Back to the Island Palms for a family weekend”

I had originally been to the Island Palms for business and stayed at the Island Palms for 10 days in January 2008 and found the Junior Suite to be very comfortable, the room service was excellent and the hotel restaurant had great food. The New York Steak was excellent!

I recently returned to San Diego April 25, 26, 2008, and stayed at the Island Palms hotel with family and friends as we made it a weekend get away in San Diego to go to Sea World, for the kids on Saturday and then Legoland on Sunday. My family and friends are very particular about hotels and they all loved it, which says a lot of good things about the Island Palms. They found the Jr. Suite hotel rooms to be excellent and of great value, the room service was great and the food was very good. The cookies at the front desk were, warm and fresh and a great touch, especially for those of us "big kids" that love cookies as much as the "little kids" do. Also, the pool and jacuzzi were a great "reliever" at night, where we could relax and unwind, after walking around Seaworld all day.

All my family and friends enjoyed it so much, that we plan on making it a yearly event. When we plan to go back to San Diego, we would without a doubt stay at the Island Palms again.

wow what a lovely hotel, with lovely staff. We arrived for a 4 day stay,we had a great room and loved the quiet setting of shelter island. The location was fantastic, with plenty to do nearby. The staff were very helpful and printed us off directions and information about things we wanted to do. It was nice to stay somewhere so relaxing on such a hectic holiday. The hotel was clean and well managed and the setting was palm trees and blue skies. We loved the ducks and the beautiful birds in the gardens. Would love to go again.

“Loved this place”

The staff at this hotel were so nice that all that was missing was a
Savannah Southern Accent and sweet tea or stronger. Man these people are
nice. I was greeted by every single person with a "good Morning" "what
a great day" "can I help you" by everyone from a gentleman driving a
golf cart, to Eric at the pool to a housekeeper just passing by to Hank
from the front desk. Awesome service.
We needed extra cream for our in-room coffee and not only did we get a
bag of cream but extra coffee - no charge and within minutes of asking.
Hank called our room about 10 minutes after a no hassle early check in
and asked if we needed anything and we asked for a couple more chairs
to sit on the patio overlooking the marina - no problem in 10 minutes.
Stayed with my 17, 16 and 8 year old daughters on spring break. 2 miles
from Seaworld. 7 miles from Gaslamp/cruise ships. Great views, heated
pool and hot tub overlooking the marina. Trader Joes is about 2 miles
away - 2 buck Chuck at night overlooking the bay with a full moon and
nice breeze.....sweet.
Note that we - like many travelers here - have travelled the world and
lived overseas, stayed at everything from Ritz Carlton in Osaka to
well -no tell motels in Houston, so trust me when I say you will not be
disappointed with this choice. EVERYTHING in this stay was completely
hassle free, no worries and perfect..
We loved the 60's Scottsdale, AZ. /Beverly Hills look and feel.
Everything was clean, manicured, well maintained.

“Great Stay”

Best Western Island Palms Hotel & Marina

5 of 5 stars
California
May 2, 2008

We spent the weekend at the hotel while my family visited the sights of San Diego. The hotel staff was very friendly. We traveled with 4 families 16 people total (7 children) The hotel was very child friendly. Each room had a kitchen which was great for breakfast. One day we had room service and it was priced good and was delicious. The best part was the location. We sat on the patio at night overlooking the harbor. The hotel was just 10 minutes from Sea World. We did stay in the "newer section" based on Trip Advisor recommendations. This was the perfect family vacation. We will come back and stay here again.

“Okay stay at the Island Palms”

Best Western Island Palms Hotel & Marina

3 of 5 stars
Atascadero, CA

My wife and I stayed at the Island Palms for 3 nights while in town for our anniversary. We really liked the Shelter Island location as it was convenient to a lot of different attractions, yet was quiet and somewhat removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. The hotel backs up to the Shelter Island Marina, with the bay across the street.

We stayed in the Casa del Mar building and had a standard room. The room was tiny and the King size bed and TV armoir took up the majority of the floor space. The furnishings in the room were somewhat dated. I was glad we had a balcony because the extra space was needed. The balcony had a nice view of the marina.

The room was well equipped with a refrigerator, shampoo, lotions etc. The housekeeping was somewhat lax. When we returned at the end of each day, the bed was made, but looked like somebody had laid on it after making it. Also, the floor wasn't vacuumed.
