"How disappointing!" Those were my first words when we entered our room at this hotel. The room was dark, dated, and the bedspreads were weirdly iridescent and tacky. Calling this room a "suite" is quite a stretch. It was somewhat bigger than the average hotel room with a sofa bed and a sink/fridge/minibar. Hardly a suite. The mattresses were quite old and just comfortable enough to sleep on. When was the last time you saw black mattresses with a bright floral print? Oddly, beneath the weird bedspreads were down comforters in white cotton duvet covers. You'd think they would dump the bedspreads and go with the duvets as many upscale hotels are doing.
I selected this hotel and their "junior suite" because we were traveling with my mother-in-law and would have five people in the room. Once we brought in our luggage, we had minimal walking space. I was very disappointed.
After a long day visiting the sights of San Diego, I was so looking forward to returning to a fresh, clean room. However, we were again disappointed when we discovered that the maid service had completely skipped our room! When I called the Front Desk, Kimmy apologized but we were never contacted by a manager or anyone else.
If you're in the mood to watch TV, there were not that many channels to choose from, compared with other hotels we've stayed at. There is free wi-fi, and that was a nice bonus.
This hotel is located near several office buildings and seems to cater to the business crowd. Breakfast costs $7 unless you are with a group who has a contract with the hotel. That is how it was explained to me. On the other hand, each adult gets a free cocktail between 5 and 10 p.m.! Never heard of that before.
In summary, we would never return to this hotel nor would we recommend it to anyone.
