This wonderful landmark is definitely worth a visit during a New York City trip, even if you've been there before as I have. It is just beautiful inside and it would be easy to spend a full hour or more looking at all of the artwork and beautiful architecture. Take a look out into the front foyer from the second floor. It is a large, lovely, cavernous space that it is truly awe inspiring and sure to create an aaah moment. The murals and artwork on the third floor are amazing too and the beautiful intricate woodwork could not be surpassed in the most opulent of homes. There is also a display on the third floor of the original stuffed toys that A.A. Milne based his Winnie the Pooh stories on. For a bunch of raggedy old toys, it's surprising how they reach out and touch your heart and inner child :).
Be sure to ask about any special exhibits that are taking place the day of your visit. An interesting photography exhibit was on display when we stopped in. There is also a lovely gift shop on the first floor. There is security and a bag check when you enter and exit but the lines move quickly. Don't miss this treasure!
