“Southern Hospitality at Marigny Manor”

Marigny Manor House

5 of 5 stars
Baltimore, Maryland
Jun 16, 2008

John and Gil exemplified southern hospitality on our stay at the Marigny Manor House during our trip to New Orleans. The B&B is close enough for easy access to the French Quarter though not so close as to be kept awake at nights from its noise. It is close to the jazz clubs on Frenchman and has many restaurants and bars within walking distance which are lower priced then the more touristy areas.

We feel as if we made new friends with John and Gil and can't wait for our next trip to New Orleans. If you want a pleasant low key place to stay while visiting New Orleans you couldn't pick a better place.

“Coffee in the Garden”

Marigny Manor House

May 21, 2008

I loved everything about about the Marigny Manor House! I especially wanted to let others know about the fabulous hospitality of the owners and how they make a guest feel like royalty. I was given wonderful coffee and conversation in the courtyard in the mornings while waiting for the rest of my family to wake up. The courtyard..... can only say it is like an oasis in the city. Fragrant vines covering the walls, pots of massive ferns and multitudes of flowers blooming quietly in tucked away spots. The breakfasts were worth waking up for, the fresh fruits, warm rolls, and tastefully done main dishes. The rooms are furnished in a classic old world feel. The large four poster beds, beautiful art work, and personal touches everywhere. But my favorite thing about my stay would have to be meeting and enjoying the company of John and Gil. They are gracious, welcoming, and a wealth of information. They directed me to shopping, resturants, and areas of history that I most wanted to see. I can say without a doubt that when I go back to the fascinating city of New Orleans that I will only stay at Marigny Manor House. It made my vacation....

“We loved our stay at Marigny Manor House”

Marigny Manor House

My husband and I and several of our friends booked the entire Marigny Manor House for a long weekend in October. We all got the "Royal Treatment". After just a short time you begin to feel like you are truly at home. John and Gill went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. One of my friends celebrated her birthday while staying at Marigny Manor. John and Gill got her a beautiful birthday cake and we all celebrated with cake and champagne....wonderful ! We look forward to many more visits to New Orleans and of course to Marigny Manor House ! Thanks John and Gill for a great time. We now think of you both as good friends.

“Not for everyone..”

This is an old New Orleans house with a lot of charm.
The location is just a little too close to the 'ghetto', and about 15 blocks from the action in the French Quarter. We were advised to take a cab back to the hotel from the Quarter if we were any later than 12 midnight.
The place has not been kept up, doors falling apart, toilet flushes not working right, shower extremely slow, old carpets, old furniture etc.
There is no housekeeping unless you stay there a week or longer. Not even the garbage gets emptied out unless you put it outside yourself. The attic which was directly above our 'balcony room', had residents of a certain kind, and they were noisy during the wee hours of the night!
The breakfasts are continental with nothing special about them, certainly not home made breakfasts.
The inn keepers are nice and very helpful about what to do in the City, but seem to be off in their own world and recovering from Katrina or some other ailment that affected the business and the City.
Two cats on premises, which are cooler than anything else at the manor. :-(

“A Truly Memorable Bed & Breakfast in New Orleans”

Marigny Manor House

Oct 9, 2007

My wife and I stayed in New Orleans from October 4 - 7, 2007. It was our 1 year anniversary and we had wished to take a special trip to a fun city like New Orleans.

Kudos to proprietors John Crew and Gil Rome of the Marigny Manor House located on N. Rampart Street just a few short blocks from the French Quarter. Built in the mid-19th century in the Greek revival style, the Marigny Manor House was warm and inviting. Twelve-foot ceilings abound with rich and intricate crown moldings in every room. There is a quaint courtyard garden for guests to enjoy. The breakfasts are healthy and delectable, with plenty of fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts, croissants and jam. In addition, John and Gil were extremely courteous and helpful to my wife and I, particularly in giving us tips on sightseeing in New Orleans and in telling us about the history and even current affairs of the city. Best of all, my wife and I were able to walk to the French Quarter or to enjoy live rhythm and blues or jazz on nearby Frenchman Street; the Garden District and famous Magazine Street are just a short cab ride away.

My wife and I plan on visiting New Orleans again. And, of course, when we return, we'll plan on lodging once again at the Marigny Manor House!
