“Excellent hotel, certainly not 2*”

La Quinta Inn and Suites Downtown New Orleans

Dec 3, 2007

I was a little dubious about this hotel, because of the 2* rating on TripAdvisor and the low price, but I was very, very surprised. The reception was extremely nice, the staff lovely and helpful, the complimentary breakfast extensive and tasty, and the rooms pretty good....and I'm used to 4* hotels.

Pros: location - 2 minute walk from Bourbon and all the toursity stuff
price
standard of rooms
IMMENSELY comfortable beds

Cons: door of bathroom didn't shut properly

Would definitely stay again.

“Great Location- Great Price- Pet Friendly”

La Quinta Inn and Suites Downtown New Orleans

I stayed here in early November 2007 on business, and it was just what I've come to expect from LaQuinta: a clean, quiet room with average amenities that is pet-friendly (I always travel with my dog- a whippet/mix). There were a couple of things that were wrong with the room (small hole in bedspread; toilet continued to churn water after it was full; one "foreign" hair in the bathroom), but they weren't enough to make me change rooms or hotels. I travel every week for work, and I've stayed in a WHOLE lot worse in some small towns where I didn't have a choice. LaQuintas, in addition to having a great rewards program, always provide a clean, quiet room with average, if not updated, amenities, and they are all pet-friendly. The best part of this one on Camp St. is the fact that it's just blocks from LaFayette Square where I can walk my dog, and it's just two blocks to Canal Street and the beginning of the Quarter. It's quiet, too. I never heard anything while I was there, and that's important when you have early morning meetings.

“LQ New Orleans”

La Quinta Inn and Suites Downtown New Orleans

3 of 5 stars

We were in NO for the first time and stayed at the LQ on points which
were easy and reasonable to use! The location was great! You really are not far from anything and we walked eveywhere except for the cab to/from the airport. The first room we had had "many" hairs on the sheets (yes we do check the sheets....) LQ changed our room and the second room also had a few hairs on the sheets but then changed them.
The breakfast was like other hotel breakfast (at least they had one!
but when you have Cafe De Monde to go to, WHY....) The gal was picking up the breakfast at around 8:30ish and fully done picking it up around 8:45 so for those expecting it til 9 you were out of luck.
The service was not out of this world but they did accomodate us. Oh, the hot tub is out of service, for those long walks we really needed it and it is located on the 5th floor rooftop, the pool had floating bugs in it so didn't do that. I am giving this LQ average at best score.

“Excellent staff, location, and room”

La Quinta Inn and Suites Downtown New Orleans

Arriving at New Orleans Int'l Airport early in the day (Friday), I drove down to the La Quinta at 301 Camp where I had a reservation, to check it out. One of my concerns was parking the rental car. I found a metered space very close to the hotel during a business day morning, and at that point I knew I'd find ample street parking after 6pm (free after 6pm Friday through 8am Monday), which I did. (If one wants to park their car in a lot, it's right across the street from the hotel).

The hotel is within a 3-minute walk from the French quarter, and a 5-minute walk from Harrah’s. It's nestled between Canal & Poydras, which I thought is a perfect location. One can catch the streetcar from Canal & St. Charles, which would take you all the way down Canal St. towards the river, and they along the riverfront, covering the length of the Quarter.

The lobby area was very nice, and the front desk clerk that found my reservation quickly, greeted me in a genuinely friendly manner. She let me check in early, about 10:30 am, which was a pleasant surprise. The room had 2 double beds, with the standard La Quinta work desk, and a very good TV, with plenty of channels. The bathroom was good sized, had thick new towels, amenities, and was very clean, as was the room. The hotel was quiet, and there was no issue with safety in the area in which it is located.

The free breakfast was very good as well, lots of choices, and plentiful. Check out was quick, and I was thanked for my stay. I would absolutely stay again at this La Quinta.

“Great all around hotel experience”

La Quinta Inn and Suites Downtown New Orleans

Aug 29, 2007

In New Orleans, there are varied advance expectations. I was very pleasantly surprised to find this hotel above my expctations. The staff was friendly and efficient, the free breakfast was above average for free breakfasts, the location was only a couple of short blocks to the Quarter and to Harrahs, and the room was large, clean, well maintained, and functional (nice desk and counter spaces). In addition, there was a sofa, microwave and mini fridge. It's not the Four Seasons, but it's much more comfortable and appealing than some of the boutique hotels I've stayed at in New Orleans. One word about parking - expect to pay for your parking anywhere in the Quarter - this hotel has only valet service for $22. I found that reasonable, based on comparable experiences and the cost of my room. Still a great deal!
