“Good for Kids”

Centennial Park in itself is not a real destination unless you have children. On a hot summer day it is a perfect place for them to cool off in the interactive fountains, which are timed and choreographed to musical numbers. There are always scores of children in bathing suits or shorts adn tshirt running through and playing in the fountains on a hot day. Also, It has a beautiful green lawn for them to run around, and a great little playground.

Centennial Park is also a good venue when there is a festival or concert going on in the park.

Otherwise, Centennial Park is more of a place to stroll through or picnic before or after visiting the real draws - the aquarium, CNN Center, the Imagine It! Children's Museum, Phillips Arena, Georgia Dome, World of Coke, etc. In itself, other than the fountains, it is not much of a draw.

“Just a nice park...”

I don't think the Olympics was held at this park, like what the previous tripadvisor thought. There are a bunch of tiles on the pathways with names on them. At first I thought that these tiles had the names of the Olympic participants on them, but when I asked locals, the names were of people who bought a tile there. The park is nice to sit in and relax. There was a live band on the weekday that I went, which played jazz music. The highlight of the park are the Olympic shaped rings on the floor with the water sprinklers. These sprinklers have different patterns of water coming out of them.

“Not much there”

When we visited there were no events so I am unable to comment as to how this place is when there are events taking place.
Not much to see apart from the Olympic rings which are water fountain - if it's a hot day you can run around in them to cool down. If you like flags, you can take your pick. Very little info about the Olympic games which took place there.
Visit the place to say you have - next to the CNN center on your way out.
