“Decent older hotel”

Marriott Atlanta Downtown

3 of 5 stars
Twin Cities
Mar 7, 2008

This is formerly a Wyndham hotel, our GPS still thought it was.

The entrance is pretty small for dropping your car off, we waited a while on the street to be able to pull in.

Check in was quick and the staff very friendly and helpful.

They said that the rooms were recently refurbished. Ours was very clean and looked pretty new. The rooms are on the smaller size and the bathrooms are very small with the vanity being in the bathroom. Street noise was fairly loud in our room on the 4th floor.

Pool is outdoors and was dirty along a busy street.

The TV quality was just OK -- lines in most of the channels. Internet Access is $10, still a Marriott annoyance.

Not a bad choice for business, but not great for tourists.

“Southern Charm and Marriott Service”

Marriott Atlanta Downtown

Feb 29, 2008

The Atlanta Marriott Downtown is a great hotel located in the heart of downtown Atlanta. A stones thrown from the Tabernackle concert venue and a short 2 minute walk to Phillips Arena. We come to Atlanta each year for New Years Eve and we finally found our home! The staff was so friendly, helped with dinner reservtaions, the rooms were spaciuos and the hotel had a clean overall feel.

If your comming to Atlanta and want to be downtown you have found the right place

“Surprisingly Excellent”

Marriott Atlanta Downtown

5 of 5 stars
Harrisburg, PA
Feb 24, 2008

Cab driver said the hotel was not very nice. I totally disagree. From the front door staff to check in to concierge and the newly renovated room, I thought it was fantastic. I would definitely stay there again, very upscale and affordable.

“Unbelievable Serivice”

Marriott Atlanta Downtown

5 of 5 stars
Saratoga, CA
Jan 19, 2008

When Atlanta closed their runways, our plane was diverted, and it looked like I wasn't going to get to the airport until about midnight, and then would encounter hundreds of stranded travelers in a taxi line to get to the hotel. I called the hotel and told them my predicament. They responded so nicely and even tried to get me a taxi.

After arrival at about 1:30AM, from the doormen to the front desk, I found the service to be rather unbelievable. Perhaps it's southern hospitality, but I think several employees went the extra mile.

When I made it to the hotel, Derrick B. inquired whether I had been able to have dinner. When I said no, he bought some items from the convenience shop and delivered to my door. He did not want a tip and disappeared before I could find my purse.

When I left the hotel a few days later at 6:15AM, he greeted me and asked if I had had coffee, since it was not available until later. He went and got coffee for my ride to the airport.

The hotel, while older, was extremely clean; the amenities were wonderful - Wall St, Journal and USA Today at the door, sewing kit, cotton swabs, nice shampoo and most importantly comfy bed and pillows.

If there is any complaint, it is the sound insulation - hallways tended to be noisy and late at night it did not seem like a safe place.

Hats off to the red coat guys and gals at the downtown Marriott who made what otherwise would have been a nightmare stay, very pleasant and memorable.

“Super Friendly Staff - Very Nice Hotel”

Marriott Atlanta Downtown

4 of 5 stars
Greenville, SC
Dec 31, 2007

The staff at this hotel are exceptionally friendly starting with the doorman and continuing through the front desk and restaurant. The hotel is very conveniently located within walking distance of the CNN Center, Phipps Arena, Georgia Aquarium, Centennial Park, and World of Coke. The rooms are very nice but somewhat small as typical in a downtown hotel. Only drawback for our family was that there are two full size beds which aren't comfortable at all for adults. Breakfast at the restaurant was good but the buffet was somewhat limited in variety and was expensive. We booked an Aquarium Package which was a good value.
