I stayed in a Studio Nov 2-4 after using my Marriott Reward points to cover the cost (would have been 129 dollars per night). I stayed in Room 706 (top floor) which faces the parking lot, field and nearby residential condos.
GETTING TO HOTEL: I landed in Atlanta at 8:10pm so I was alittle nervous about using the MARTA train system after dark. I opted for a cab. Cab fares are not metered. They are preset depending on what "ZONE" you are going to. This Residence Inn is located in the Midtown district which meant the cab fare would be $32 dollars. $2 dollars for every additional person. You can pay by credit at the Taxi stand or pay cash to the driver. The ride took about 15 minutes.
ROOM: Huge!! I don't know if it was a handicapped room or what. The space was large. Especially the bathroom. It was very large and wide. The room has a walk in closet, desk, queen sized bed with a ton of pillows (a couple feather pillows), TV with dresser, iron, and a full stocked kitchen. No need to pack a corkscrew! Coffee, popcorn are available in the kitchen as well as a large frig, microwave, stove etc. The bathroom amenties are shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, and lotion.
LOCATION: In the heart of midtown. A short 5 minute walk to the Margaret Mitchell House, Publix, Starbucks, and the MARTA station. I took the MARTA on Sunday afternoon to the airport. Only $2.25 compared to the $32 taxi fare! It took about 30 minutes but I felt completely safe. Many suitcase carrying people accompanied me on the train.
BREAKFAST: Wow! The spread is very nice. Their breakfast is the best I've seen in a while. Lots of options (hot and cold). One thing I didn't like was the coffee. Yuck! The in-room coffee was better.
GYM: They only have a treadmill, elliptical, bike, and some free weights. Never saw anyone when I worked out.
I'd definitely stay here again. The location is quiet (not a lot of street noise outside and poorly lit at night) but the windows are paper thin. I heard the garbage truck loud and clear at 5AM.) I felt safe in the area and there's a ton to see and do nearby.
