“Greal location, great large rooms, but it's NOISY”

Residence Inn Atlanta Midtown / Historic

3 of 5 stars
St. Louis, MO
Jan 8, 2008

The service at this property is lukewarm - definetly hot and cold. One minute you encounter a very helpful persson and then 5 minutes later you ecounter apathy!

The rooms are HUGE, although they are in need of a re-do. The location in midtown cannot be beat, especially with the MARTA 1/2 block away.

Oh but the noise. In our room (211) we constantly encountered noise from the room on other side of us...at all hours of the night. And sometimes when you least expect it. One piece of advice: Use the earplugs they give you!!!!!

“Nice Place!”

Residence Inn Atlanta Midtown / Historic

Dec 26, 2007

I had booked a room with 2 queen and 1 rollaway on a Friday night this month and it was perfect! The room was at least 1000 square feet, like an apartment that came with a full kitchen and balcony. This room was on the 5th floor and it was great. The room was only $159.00/night!! That's good for Midtown. The hotel was only 2 blocks from food, Publix, and the liquer store(which we loaded up) we walked to all these places and it took maybe 8 minutes. The beds were comfortable, nice T.V, and the fridge came in handy. I would definitly return.

“Great stay at the Residence INN”

Residence Inn Atlanta Midtown / Historic

4 of 5 stars
Cleveland, Ohio
Dec 19, 2007

Booked based on location and reviews here on Trip Advisor. The room wasn't overly large but was clean, quite, and provided an excellent location to get anywhere in atlanta.

I had read reports of loud noise (ear plugs were included in the room)- but did not hear any noise what so ever. I even stayed on a friday and saturday night. Comfortable bed, huge plasma screen TV, and a decent sized kitchen (stove, fridge, micro). All I could ask for during my stay in atlanta.

2 minutes to the MARTA station and about 15 minutes to the convention center - felt safe the entire time. Also check out the 11th St. Pub located adjacent to the hotel - very good soups and a good selection of beer!

All this and I stayed in the petite room! Older property but well run and was without any problems at all.

“That's the room we give guests who book through Priceline.com”

Residence Inn Atlanta Midtown / Historic

2 of 5 stars
Knoxville, TN
Dec 19, 2007

It's true: I booked this hotel through Priceline.com! I actually book most of my trips through Priceline. However, I've noticed a growing trend, not just with the Residence Inn Atlanta Midtown / Historic, but with other accommodations throughout the U.S. Here's an example: When I checked into the Residence Inn Atlanta Midtown / Historic, the front desk clerk confirmed that I booked the room through Priceline, then after some consternation, he gave me a cardkey to a room on the 5th floor. I had stayed at the other Residence Inn Midtown Atlanta on 17th Street earlier in the year, and I had also booked it through Priceline so I was expecting a nice, clean spacious room. However, what I got when I opened the door was quite another matter. The room wasn't very clean, it had no view, and it was TINY! I had explained to the front desk clerk that I would have a friend joining me the next day for the remainder of my stay. He said that this room would accommodate us. There is no way that it would have; my guest and I would have been on top of each other! So, I made my way back down to the front desk, and politely asked the clerk if there was a larger room available that could accommodate 2 adults. His response to me was, "Sorry that's the room we give guests who book through Priceline.com." His attitude was condescending and bordered on rude. I explained my situation to him again, noting the length of my stay (5 nights) and my traveling companion. He said a larger room was available on the 7th floor for an upgrade fee of $15 a day. I accepted those terms, and the room was much larger. However, it is an older property so the rooms are simply not up to date or spotlessly clean like the other Residence Inn in Midtown Atlanta. Another problem with the room was that there was a noticeable "give" to the floor in one spot by the window. I'm guessing water damage. In fact, one day when I arrived back to the room after work, there were 3 men in the room inspecting the area. They instructed me to walk around that spot. I was surprised that an "upgraded" room would have a defect like this in it. So in summary, the problems with this hotel: upgrade fee for Priceline.com members, attitude from front desk clerk, complimentary breakfast wasn't good, and the rooms can be small and/or have structural issues (because it is an older hotel). The advantages of staying here: its location is great. The property is within walking distance from some very cool gay and lesbian shops and eateries. Moreover, it is about a block away from MARTA so getting to and from the airport without driving is no hassle at all.

“Solid Hotel in a great spot”

I stayed at this hotel for the Veteran's Day weekend.

The hotel is just a few blocks from MARTA. I would recommend taking MARTA from the airport....so easy. It is $2.25 for a one-way trip. Cab fare is $30 plus tip.

The Rooms are very spacious and clean. My room had a great kitchen area with a stove, dishwasher and microwave.

The Bathrooms were spacious with good water pressure.

The free breakfast has eggs, sausage, toast, great fresh fruit and cereals.

The hotel is located in midtown....a great spot for tourist. Very close to a few gay bars if that is an interest.

The walls of the hotel were pretty thin....that would be my only complaint.
